A short guide on how to properly run Nintendo Wii games on your PC using Dolphin
If in the previous guide I had shown you how to emulate one Wii U on your PC, in this guide I show you how to perfectly emulate a Wii.
To achieve our goal we are going to use the famous emulator Dolphin which, now in version 5.0, does not present any kind of problems during emulation.
For some games you will necessarily have to get an old one Wiimoote and an infrared bar. You can see an example of this in my review of a fit-for-purpose product by clicking here.
Anyway, let's see all the steps required to emulate Wii games on your PC thanks to Dolphin.
Please note: the emulator is perfectly legal and its download is completely free. However, to run the ROM on the emulator you need to have a copy of the original game. Downloading the ROM of the game not purchased is illegal.Dolphin: how to play Wii games on your PC
1. Download thelatest version Dolphin emulator by clicking here.
2. Go to Options-> Configure and set these settings:
- Enable Dual Core
- Abilita Idle Skipping
- JIT recompiler
3. Go to Options-> Video e set the settings that best suit your video card and the type of monitor you own. Obviously I can't recommend anything, as each of us has a different configuration (maybe ask in the comments by posting your configuration). The only thing I recommend is to leave OpenGL set as the default for libraries.
4. At this point it is necessary set the controller. Having tested the functioning of an old Wii controller, I will teach you the method of connecting it. Upon opening the controller's battery compartment, you will notice a small red button. Go to the settings of your PC and turn on the bluetooth. At this point, press the red button and, in a few seconds, you should see the controller appear in the list of connected bluetooth devices. Click on associate and that's it. If you are prompted for a password, click next, it is not required. Open Dolphin and click on Controller. Select Real Wiimoote and, by pressing the 1-2 keys, click on update. As soon as you feel a vibration you will notice the player's LED illuminated. Your remote control is connected. In case you have a Dolphin Bar, I refer you again to the review which contains a mini-guide to use.
5. Now all that remains is to download the game ROMs. To do this, I recommend this site. The ROMs they will be downloaded in ISO format. To start them open the emulator, click on File-> Open and select the ISO file you just downloaded.
