One Rune to rule them ...

Runes are a new and additional type of enhancement in Doom Eternal, which provides extremely powerful passive skills that can make you even more performant.
There are nine total runes in Doom Eternal, with a maximum of three that can be equipped at the same time. Each of them has a unique effect and can significantly determine your style of play. So let's find out together what their effects are and which ones are best used in each situation.
One Rune to find them… - Doom Eternal: the best runes to use
Below is the list of Runes in Doom Eternal with their descriptions:
- Brutality: Get glorious kills faster.
- Search and destruction: launches into a glorious kill from much farther away.
- Invigorating blood: Gain a speed boost after taking a glorious kill.
- Control in the air: Hugely increases movement control while in the air.
- Stunned and confused: Increases the stun state of enemies.
- Saving Throw: survives a fatal blow and slows time for a few seconds, giving you the opportunity to recover. The Rune recharges with death.
- Chrono-attack: Press and hold LT in mid-air to slow down time. Once the Rune is finished, you will have to wait for it to recharge.
- Demonic equipment: Enemies killed by equipment or under the effect of equipment reduce the cooldown.
- Beating and looting: Enemies killed by the Blood Fist wave drop health.
A Rune to bring them all… - Doom Eternal: the best runes to use
As we have already said, you will be able to equip a maximum of three Runes at the same time in Doom Eternal, and these are the three that we recommend you get as soon as possible:
- Chrono-attack: Press and hold LT in mid-air to slow down time. Once the Rune is finished, you will have to wait for it to recharge.
- Beating and looting: Enemies killed by the Blood Fist wave drop health.
- Control in the air: Hugely increases movement control while in the air.
The Chrono-attack will make it much easier for you hit the weak points of the enemies, especially if you are playing with a controller and not a mouse and keyboard. The Blood Fist is a particularly useful tool in your arsenal, and Beating and Looting makes it even more indispensable by giving you bonus health points. Ultimately, mobility is a key factor in Doom Eternal and Control in the Air will make you as agile in mid-air as you are with your feet on the ground.

The ultimate advice would be to try them all, in any combination, and decide for yourself which one suits you the most.
