Let's find out how to transfer the assassin's progress, all the old and original maps from HITMAN 1 and 2 to HITMAN 3
The world of assassins is destined to expand with the third installment of the saga. New maps, an unprecedented final story and other gameplay news will entertain you for several hours of gameplay. However, to make it even longer and within a single ecosystem, IO Interactive has made sure that the contents of the first two chapters of this soft reboot could become also available in the third.
All this as if it were actually a remaster of old video games, benefiting from graphic innovations and new content. However, it is not an automatic and always free process, in fact you will have to go through a certain process for each situation. Let's find out in this guide how to transfer progress and maps from HITMAN 1 and 2 to the new HITMAN 3.
It's not that simple to understand
Replaying the old maps will certainly be fun, even more new if you decide to do it with the PlayStation VR. However, it is not a very simple process, so we have decided to build a guide around it to try to clarify the matter. The developers have in fact made available a page that explains the steps, but it's not that intuitive. So let's proceed with the first simpler phase, that of transferring the progress of your assassin to HITMAN 3, we will then move on to explore how to play HITMAN 1 and 2 maps.
How to transfer progress - HITMAN 3: how to transfer progress and maps from HITMAN 1 and 2
Game progress can be only transferred to HITMAN 3 if coming from HITMAN 2, consequently also from HITMAN 1 if you have already transferred them to the second chapter. The transfer can only take place if the originating platform is part of the same family, so we report the IO Interactive scheme:
- HITMAN 2 (PlayStation) → HITMAN 3 (PlayStation)
- HITMAN 2 (Xbox) → HITMAN 3 (Xbox)
- HITMAN 2 (PC/Steam) → HITMAN 3 (PC/Epic)
After completing the step, progress on HITMAN 2 will remain unchanged. However, pay particular attention to when you want to transfer them to the third chapter. If you have already started playing HITMAN 3 and decide to switch later, you will lose all progress made up to that point on HITMAN 3. It is therefore recommended to proceed with the operation on a blank batch.
The process that allows you to make the switch is only possible if done externally to the game via an internet browser. When the dedicated site is online you will need to log into your IO Interactive account and follow the specific procedure. This step will be better explained in this guide when it will actually be possible to perform it.
Stadia Finally, it is a different platform from the PC one and the transition will take place automatically if you own the whole World of Assasination Trilogy. Regarding Nintendo Switch there is no way to transfer, as there are no HITMAN 1 and 2 on this platform. Let's now find out how to transfer maps from HITMAN 1 and 2 to HITMAN 3.
The maps of HITMAN 1 - HITMAN 3: how to transfer progress and maps from HITMAN 1 and 2
Now we have arrived at the really complex part of this guide and for this reason it will be divided into several parts according to the title to make it more understandable. Let's start by saying that HITMAN 3 allows you to have access to the maps of HITMAN 1 and 2 under one roof, but this may cost you depending on your situation. You will be able to play these maps if you have previously or subsequently purchased the first two titles separately, or you will be able to purchase them as “DLC” for HITMAN 3 under the names of Access Pack 1 and 2.
If you have purchased for console HITMAN 1 Legacy Pack, HITMAN 1 GOTY Legacy Pack or HITMAN 1 GOTY as DLC per HITMAN 2, you will unlock the same DLC for free also for the third chapter being able to access the old content. If you have the disk version of HITMAN 1 (Complete First Season or Definitive Edition), make sure you have the game installed to transfer the data on the second chapter (process that will be guided within the game store) and have access to it on HITMAN 3.
Regarding the version PC, the switch will be automatic if you have pre-purchased or purchased HITMAN 3 on the epic games store in the first 10 days of launch. This will give you access to the HITMAN 1 GOTY Access Pass for free. This applies if you also own the copy that was given away on the store not so long ago. After transferring the progress, let's now find out how to transfer maps from HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3.
The maps of HITMAN 2 - HITMAN 3: how to transfer progress and maps from HITMAN 1 and 2
For console, if you own one digital copy of HITMAN 2 Standard, Gold and / or Expansion you will have access to their respective maps and Access Passes at no additional cost. You will only have to proceed to acquire them for free on the in-game shop. If, on the other hand, you own one physical copy, make sure you have the title installed and you will then be able to receive the Access Pass through its in-game store (and pass it accordingly on HITMAN 3 as well).
On PC, this is a little less convenient. Since HITMAN 2 is not present on the Epic Games store, you will have to buy his Access Pass. To mitigate this, developers will discount the dedicated Access Pass by 80% for two weeks (theoretically until February 3rd).
Stadia the step is almost identical to that for game progress. If you have the World of Assassinasion Trilogy it will be fully automatic. For Nintendo Switch instead, for the same reason mentioned above, users will have to purchase Access Passes. Let's try to outline all the processes on how to transfer progress and maps from HITMAN 1 and 2 to HITMAN 3.
Let's recap a bit - HITMAN 3: how to transfer progress and maps from HITMAN 1 and 2
Now let's try for a moment to summarize this process in a schematic way, so as to make everything (perhaps) easier, also remembering that the steps are only possible only if done through its own family of platforms.
Passing of progress
- HITMAN 1 (PlayStation) → trasferiti su HITMAN 2 (PlayStation) → HITMAN 3 (PlayStation)
- HITMAN 1 (Xbox) → trasferiti su HITMAN 2 (Xbox) → HITMAN 3 (Xbox)
- HITMAN 1 (PC/ Steam) → trasferiti su HITMAN 2 (PC/ Epic) → HITMAN 3 (PC)
HITMAN 1 is not mandatory as you can also just transfer HITMAN 2 data with the Legacy Pack to 3. Passing data directly from HITMAN 1 to 3 is not possible, HITMAN 2 must necessarily act as an intermediary. All through the dedicated IO Interactive website.
Switching maps from HITMAN 1 to HITMAN 3
- If you own HITMAN 1 (PlayStation) → unlock the Legacy Pack on HITMAN 2 (PlayStation) → Free becomes Access Pass on HITMAN 3 (PlayStation)
- If you own HITMAN 1 (Xbox) → unlock the Legacy Pack on (Xbox) → Free becomes Access Pass on HITMAN 3 (Xbox)
- If you own HITMAN 1 (PC Epic) → Free becomes Access Pass on HITMAN 3 (PC Epic)
Here, too, HITMAN 2 seems mandatory for the transition to console, but we do not put our hand on fire given the enormous amount of possible options. Or buy the Access Pass directly on HITMAN 3
Switching maps from HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3
- If you own HITMAN 2 (PlayStation) → unlock the Legacy Pack on HITMAN 2 (PlayStation) → Become Access Pass on HITMAN 3 (PlayStation)
- If you own HITMAN 2 (Xbox) → unlock the Legacy Pack on (Xbox) → Become Access Pass on HITMAN 3 (Xbox)
- HITMAN 2 on the Epic Games Store does not exist → Access Pass available for purchase with 80% discount on HITMAN 3 (PC)
Or buy the Access Pass directly on HITMAN 3.
This was our guide for HITMAN 3
At this point we hope that the whole process it takes to transfer progress and maps in HITMAN 3 is at least slightly clearer. You will probably have some questions to ask about it, so be free to do them below in the comments or on our social networks. However, we also leave you the link to the official guide, however it is only available in English.
