Huawei chose Dailymotion to build a viable alternative to YouTube on its smartphones. As we all know, the ban imposed by the United States has put the Shenzhen giant in the condition of not being able to use Google applications and services on board its devices. The Asian company, however, does not stand still to wait and takes new paths to offer its users an experience as complete as possible.
The collaboration between Huawei and Dailymotion aims at enhance the current Huawei Video application. The latter will integrate Dailymotion's video processing and playback infrastructure. Furthermore, using the same APIs, the same content will be available on both platforms. The partnership also aims to develop monetization solutions, for example by introducing advertising.
“We are delighted to offer our Huawei Video service so that people around the world can easily browse thousands of videos and movies available from our partners, including Dailymotion, anywhere, anytime. We are committed to giving consumers more choice, ”said Jervis Su, Vice President of Mobile Services, Huawei Consumer Business Group.
It is only the latest of the moves made by the Shenzhen giant to address the shortcomings caused by the US ban. In fact, Huawei is working hard to give an enormous acceleration to the AppGallery and the HMS which represent the alternative to the Play Store and Google Mobile Services respectively. As mentioned, the goal is to continue to offer its users a complete experience despite the fact that it can no longer rely on American partners.
