Instagram Lite is no longer available. The company has decided to do away with the lightened version of the main application. Users who now try to access the "Lite" variant will find a message inviting them to download the full app.
More and more manufacturers are choosing to design lighter versions of their applications. These are software designed specifically for those who use one smartphone not very good. Just think of Facebook Lite, Skype Lite and Instagram Lite. The days of the latter, however, are over: the company has decided to eliminate the app, which has not achieved great success.
Instagram Lite was nothing more than a WebView with a few minor modifications (in fact, it only weighed 573 kilobytes). Precisely for this reason, many users were not inclined to download, preferring to use the browser. The result was in fact very similar to that obtained by connecting with the browser to the Instagram.com website (and creating, perhaps, a link with the main screen of the device).
The official application page on Google Play Store has been eliminated. Users who have already downloaded will find a message notifying them that "Instagram Lite is no longer supported". L'last update of this app dates back to October 2019.
