In this episode of our Nioh 2 boss guide we will explain how to beat Otakemaru once and for all
The last title of the Team Ninja it really is a game very difficult and is able to create problems even for the most prepared gamers. The game's missions are littered with powerful enemies and treacherous traps, but the biggest obstacle for most players is the boss. For this reason we have decided to write one complete guide to bosses in Nioh 2 and in this episode we will explain how to beat Otakemaru once and for all.
Be prepared for the worst
You have finally reached the final confrontation with Otakemaru, but despite being imprisoned for many years it will not be easy to defeat him. The recommended level to defeat this boss is 104 and we advise you not to stray too far from this value.
To be able to beat this boss you will have to exploit all your resources, even the rarest items. Before the fight we advise you to insert in the quick selection of herbal medicines, so as not to run the risk of being left without treatment during the fight. In addition, you could prepare talismans to increase the elemental resistance but, since the boss will use all three main elements of the game, without a build dedicated to Omnyo magic it will be difficult to have enough amulets. In any case it might be useful to prepare at least some amulet for fire resistance, since it is the element he uses the most.
The Supreme Yokai - Nioh 2, boss guide: how to beat Otakemaru
During this boss fight, Otakemaru will be able to transform into all three Yokai forms present in the game. While it will be fit stupid his attacks will be slow and very powerful, so we will have to be very careful not to get hit. Fortunately, in this transformation it will be quite simple to succeed go behind him and hit it a couple of times, so you shouldn't have too much trouble.
Even the transformation into spectrum it will be quite easy to handle, as it will attack at long range but deal little damage. During this stage the best choice is attack frontally the enemy trying to stay as close to his body as possible until he changes transformation.
The shape anger instead it is the most dangerous, since its attacks will not only be extremely fast, but also quite powerful. Due to its speed, attacking from a distance is not possible, so the only option is to attack it directly as for the ghost form. In this phase, however, his damage will be greater and without heavy armor it might be really hard to survive his relentless blows. For this reason we advise you to stick it using your Yokai transformation, in order to protect your HP.
The true face of the enemy - Nioh 2, boss guide: how to beat Otakemaru
After you get Otakemaru to roughly 50% of his maximum HP, the boss will show his true appearance and it will start attacking you with new moves. At this stage the enemy has a sword for each element and will alternate them at will during the fight. Moreover, depending on the sword he is using, he will be able to use powerful magical attacks of the corresponding element.
When he holds the electric sword, one of the most dangerous attacks it can throw at you is an extremely fast long-distance lightning strike. Avoiding this shot will be very difficult given his speed, but luckily he will only use it when you are too far away from him. With the sword of fire instead it is able to attack you with gods long range slashing lenses, and is also capable of evoking tongues of fire that will start from its position and will reach you even if you are extremely far away. Finally with the ice blade will be able to perform a area attack around him, so you will have to try not to position yourself too often behind him.
To be able to overcome this phase, we advise you to always keep an eye on the type of sword you are using and act accordingly. If you do not act too quickly, you will certainly be able to reach the last stage without too many problems, especially thanks to the Tokichiro support.
Just one last effort - Nioh 2, boss guide: how to beat Otakemaru
When Otakemaru is dying he will become even stronger and in this phase you will have to really play it all out to win. Now the boss will be able to to levitate his swords and will be able to use them all at the same time, making the battle even more complicated.
At this stage you will have to try to never fight the boss head-on, as he could swing his swords to inflict great damage on you. On top of that, if you're in front of him, he might even try to throw his swords at you to hit you with a lethal taken from a distance which you must absolutely avoid. But sometimes it will use a explosive attack very predictable using the sword in his right hand, so in this case you might try a explosive counterattack to gain immediate advantage.
Another attack that you will need to pay close attention to is the rain of blades which can perform within the Dark Realm. With this attack Otakemaru will throw at you hundreds of elemental blades, risking to overwhelm you. Although this attack is very powerful, during its execution the boss will be totally exposed, allowing you to inflict massive damage on it. The best move in this case is to run directly into the enemy and dodge at the last second, so you don't take too much damage and you'll be able to deal some well-aimed hits.
