The world of Nioh 2 it is not only populated by demons: in fact, there are good spirits who reside in the areas of the game and are well prepared to help the player in his mission if the latter is willing to treat them with cordiality. Among these beings are the Kodama: small creatures that, if collected, provide important bonuses such as the increase of certain percentages related to the loot, elixirs and the received Army. There are well 150 Kodama in the game, scattered across main and secondary levels, the collection of which is linked to a specific trophy. Unlike the Open World collectibles, in Nioh 2 the Kodamas are very easy to find provided you have some essential precautions. The advice is to take them all as soon as the game is finished and before proceeding “further”, in order to avoid having to search for them with further difficulties. Especially since taking all the Kodamas in each region will increase your starting number of free Elixirs for each of them, bringing them to 8 in case you find all 25 Kodama for each region.
Finding the Kodama in the first levels
From the very beginning of the game, starting with the very first area, you will already have to start plumbing the ground for these beings. The only indication you can rely on will be your sight and hearing attentive to hearing small sounds extraneous to the environment. A Kodama is always indicated by a small green light that its luminescent body emits, accompanied by a small voice halfway between a ghost and a newborn (but not in a disturbing sense). Unfortunately, however, not all Kodama are on the most obvious path: many hide behind or inside destructible objects, or in parts of the map where you would hardly go straight to the goal. The advice is therefore to probe each path as much as possible, exploring all the areas before continuing beyond points of no return or making a stop at the sanctuary to reset the enemies. After all, it is better to wander around without threats than to look for the Kodama in the most difficult areas.
Furthermore, it is worth pointing out that the Kodama are afraid when fighting in their vicinity and therefore they may hide inside the bowl they carry on their heads, obliterating their glow and making themselves more difficult to see. In general, this phenomenon occurs only when you really fight close to their proximity or when the terrain is part of the Dark Kingdom (i.e. the dark area where you have to kill a particular Yokai to free the area from evil spirits). Finally, the Kodama floating in the Springs are not part of the count.
Kodama perception
The best way to find all Kodama without any effort is to obtain an Accessory that, among its abilities, has the words Kodama Perception. As the name suggests, this feature will allow you to see all Kodama present in a considerable range near you on the top right radar. Of course, the "radar" of Nioh 2 is anything but a minimap so compulsive exploration will remain just as important, however knowing more or less where to look is already a huge step forward to not miss any of these spirits. Their signal will be a small green dot, more or less intense depending on the height at which it is located in relation to you. If it is at the same "level" as you, then it will be a bright green signifying its reachability.

Good advice is also to go back just as you start the level, as if you were to abandon it. In fact, many Kodama hide in some corner before the mission entrance, so you would totally risk losing them even with Kodama Perception if you think that there is absolutely nothing behind the first shrine.
The brothers of the Kodama: the little Sudama
Different speech for i Sudama, or of the Kodama dal purple color and with a skull on his head. These beings are not to be collected and they do not appear in any list to keep in mind, however they are equally significant for their ability to provide you with valuable items in exchange for a small fee. The first rule is to always greet them by holding Circle, even when you don't understand their language. In this case, drop a piece of equipment to receive another piece of equipment of equal or higher rarity depending on luck. When you have met some of them, you will be able to understand their language and when you greet them you will be able to listen to the specific requests of each of them.
Generally i Sudama ask for two things: either a Dung Ball or a Warm and Pleasant Object which corresponds to the Summoner's Candle. Fulfilling the wish of the Sudama, these they will reward you with numerous materials and even Spirit Stones of different sizes. But when they ask you for other items, you will want to donate unused pieces of equipment to take advantage of the exchange and get new, possibly better pieces. Finally, to get the trophy linked to the Soul Core of the Kodama, you will simply have to donate any Soul Core to the Sudama to have the possibility that they leave you theirs, thus completing your collection. Among the Metamorph skills there is also a slot dedicated to increasing the rarity percentage of Sudama rewards, but considering everything it would be wiser to leave this unlock as the last of the priorities.
