Pokémon Sword and Shield Guides - How to participate in the Tournament of the Galar Stars

One of the more interesting additions of the second expansion of Pokémon Sword and Shield: The Snowy Lands of the Crown and the Tournament of the Stars of Galar. This mode will allow us to clash together with an ally against the characters encountered during the main adventure.

In today's guide we will show you how to participate in the tournament and what you will get at the end of it if you win.

Required steps

Before you can unlock access to this challenge, you must have passed some mandatory steps. Here they are below:

• Beat the Pokémon League at least once: you simply have to complete the main storyline and defeat dandel.
• Concluding the post-game: Once the main campaign is over, you will be able to play a new part of the story, at the center of which are the mysterious Brandobaldo e Scudobaldo.
• Completed the main storyline of the first expansion and unlocked the Limited Trials.
• Finish the three investigations of the second expansion: the investigations concern the search for the new legendary Pokémon, that is Calyrex, the three Legendary Birds (Moltres, Zapdos e Articuno) and the two new ones Regi (Regieleki e Regidrago).
• Begin the investigation of Ultra Beasts (it will not be necessary to complete it).

If you respect all the steps, you will finally receive a call from Dandel, who will tell you to go to Goalwick for a surprise. Once you arrive at the stadium, you will have unlocked the fateful new mode!

Finally the new Pokémon tournament!

Now that you have unlocked the tournament, you can fight in pairs against the characters already faced, whether they are rivals or gym leaders. For the first battle, however, there will be only three characters with whom we will be able to clash, that is Hop, Beat e mary. Obviously with one of them we will team up, while with the other two we will have to fight.

Once the first challenge is complete, more characters will be unlocked. Based on the number of victories obtained, here is the list of new competitors:

• 1 VICTORY: will be unlocked Hop, mary, Yarrow o Riviera.
• 2 VICTORIES: Sophora (Sword) o Savory (Shield).
• 3 VICTORIES: Kabu e Fabia (Sword) o Onion (Shield).
• 4 VICTORIES: Laburnum e Milo (Sword) o Melania (Shield).
• 5 VICTORIES: Beet.
• 6 VICTORIES: poppy e Juniper.
• 7 VICTORIES: Peony.
• 8 VICTORIES: Mustard.
• 9 VICTORIES: dandel.
• 15 VICTORIES: Brandobaldo e Scudobaldo.

The last two, moreover, will be the mysterious competitors who, should they appear in the games, will be eliminated first. The two brothers with the particular hairstyles will be presented after the 15 victories through a cut-scene.

As for the modes of the battles, the player will be able to use his entire team without any limitation, neither level nor tools, while our partner will only use three Pokémon of level between 70 and 80. The same thing will happen for Pokémon of opponents. Function too Dynamax it can be used: the player can use it whenever he wants in the battle, but if he does not, it will be our partner, in the final stages of the battle, to exploit it.

Once you complete the first challenge, you will get the huge prize of 1.000.000 (one million) Pokédollars. Continuing the challenges you will get more cash prizes, this time reduced to 80.000 and 100.000 Pokédollars, but which can be increased if you have a Monetamulet. In addition to the money, at the end of each match, Ballino will reward us with various items, from pokeball to the tools.

In addition to these prizes, it will also be possible to receive new clothes with which to customize the character. These will be given to us by an NPC in the Stadium at the end of the first challenge, and it will also be possible to obtain two secondary outfits if you have Calyrex, Regieleki and Regidrago in the team or in the pits.
