La Station to Station Review represents the last stop of a game capable of conquering the public since its first appearance. The credit goes to the irresistible charm of the trains, the protagonists here, and largely to their careful graphics in three-dimensional pixels, the so-called voxels, which deal with panoramic views so delicious that they make your heart hurt. Station to Station is artistically irresistible, but will it also be irresistible to play?
An amazing game
Station to Station is not a large-scale game, but a fragmented experience many small maps, about forty, of increasing difficulty. The purpose of each map is to ensure that producer and consumer are connected by stations and tracks; When this happens we will see that the color of the map, the music thickens and the connected areas become larger. If in the first maps these connections are very simple to make, little by little things will become progressively more elaborate. In Station to Station, however, you rarely fail to complete the map, that's not its challenge, which focuses mostly on saving money by trying to optimize each route.
The farm must be connected to the mill, which in turn must be connected to the baker and subsequently to the city, which however also requires fish and other resources to continue growing. Every location needs a station, but only has two platforms available and often there won't be space to build another one. Tracks that we must avoid overlapping as much as possible, because the creation of bridges is much more expensive than that of a normal stop. To help us design our rail network, after the first few levels are added to the mix. special papers that we can use to obtain strong discounts on the construction of roads or elevated roads. Each level of Station to Station is designed to last a maximum of twenty minutes, but luckily you won't find any countdowns to rush you.
All aboard!
If you are an expert in the subgenre of railroad magnate, perhaps what Station to Station offers is a bit small both in terms of content and actual challenge. Things start to get interesting about three-quarters of the way through and especially through the additional challenges, which allow you to unlock the best ratings for each level. Others, however, will probably find this game to be an excellent and intelligent pastime in which to spend every moment to get away from the daily frenzy. There is no type of player who does not fall into the trap of its graphics, capable of offering views that are worth a hug every time because of how comfortable they are. Watching these steam trains roll over hills and cross deserts to stop chugging through the city is, in a way, intoxicating. If the forty levels and their multiple challenges are no longer enough, you can enjoy the upcoming sandbox mode where the game will offer new procedurally created maps every time.
Playing is as easy as it gets: click to build the stations and click and drag to draw the railway routes. It's so simple that even a child could play it, right? In fact, Station To Station is a pleasant zen garden for veterans, a smart pastime for casual players and an excellent product for younger players, who will find the gameplay easy to understand and with good logic. However, there is a bit of a bitter taste left because the idea of a Transport Tycoon, or a more recent Transport Fever 2, in voxels and more advanced mechanics than those offered in Station To Station would definitely have driven us crazy. Look on the bright side: so small, at least, runs on any hardware!
Conclusions
digital delivery Steam Holygamerz.com 7.0 Readers (6) 8.2 your voteStation to Station is a really... cute game! Yes, sometimes you don't need grandiloquent terms, just as you don't need hundred-hour games on the river. Sometimes, as this title explains, all you need is something that can be opened and closed in ten minutes, a magical portal that takes us away from the post office line, or the next Excel sheet to look at. With this goal in mind, Station ti Station is unbeatable; As an actual game, however, there is much better out there.
