Since April 30th, within Animal Crossing: New Horizons, tarantulas have been replaced by scorpions, a type of insect that, if caught and sold, will earn you a lot of stars. These cute animals can also be donated to the Blatero museum in order to expand it, but only one example will be enough as always.

When to catch scorpions
Scorpions can only be caught at a certain time of day. You will have to arm yourself with patience to hunt for the insect as well as for net. The scorpion will appear at certain times of the year depending on whether you are in theNorthern hemisphere or inHemisphere South.

How to catch Scorpios
To be able to catch a scorpion you will first need to have a net. As with Tarantulas, getting too close to a scorpion can be really dangerous, as it will start chasing you until it stings you. The poison contained in the insect will transport you to your home, causing you to automatically fail to capture. I want to clarify that every scorpion sold will yield you well 8.000 stars! Wait until the next day to sell: after 22pm the shop will be closed and you will only be able to sell at a reduced price from the cashier put out.
In this guide I show you three methods different catches. You can choose the one that suits you best, so as not to get points and complete the scorpion hunt.
First method of capture
The first method is that faster but also the most dangerous. You will have to take advantage of your reflexes and your coolness, since it consists in being chased by the scorpion and then capturing it at the right time with the net. The risks of being poisoned and failing to capture are very high but, if done properly, it will fill your inventory in no time with scorpions to turn into brilliant stars.
Second method of capture
The second method is that easier but it requires a lot of patience on your part, after all if you play Animal Crossing you should already have a lot of them. Once you have approached the animal, it will put itself in a guard position ready to attack you. You will have to stay still in order to let the scorpion drop his guard, then keep moving forward until you catch him with the net. With this method you will be able to catch the scorpion in absolute safety.
Third method of capture
The third and last method, unlike the other two, needs a minimum of preparation more. I advise you to use the procedure on a mysterious island, so as not to lose sight of the scorpion should it go away.

First, you will need to find a free space in the center of the island. Once this is done, dig two perpendicular rows of 4 holes each, so that they form a sort of inverted V. So start running until you find a scorpion and, instead of approaching slowly, attract his attention starting the chase, always being careful not to get stung.
At this point, just go in the direction of the row of holes and jump them, making you find yourself on the other side of the line safe and, at the same time, putting the creature's AI in difficulty, unable to overcome this obstacle. Finally, equip the net and capture it with peace of mind.

In addition to taking advantage of the three methods listed above, it will be possible to land on thesecret island of scorpions. In this place, insects will spawn with unlimited respawn. In order to visit the island you will need to buy a flight ticket at Point Nook and leave in the right month: from May to October if you are in the northern hemisphere and between November and April if you are in the southern hemisphere.
The possibility of reaching the island is very low even if starting at the right time. If you are really interested in wanting to reach it, all you have to do is repeat the operation, until you reach the island of scorpions.
Generate infinite scorpions? It can be done!
My advice is to directly create the conditions for you to have a greater spawn of scorpions. Just follow these simple instructions:
- In the evening (after 19:00) use a ticket Miles of Nook to visit an island
- Bring or make an ax, a net, a shovel and a ladder. Possibly only these objects, the ladder you can create directly on the island in case
- Cut down every tree (shovel the stump as well), pull out all the weeds and uproot every possible flower. Most importantly, smash the rocks by eating a fruit and then using an ax / shovel to blow them up
- If you've removed everything, you should just run around and wait for the first scorpions to arrive. Unfortunately you will find other useless and annoying insects, just go close to hunt them. Repeat the process until you complete the inventory. Fortunately, the spawn is infinite, it is only a matter of time!
Also in this case practically nothing changes compared to the tarantulas, always resalable at 8000 Stars each. Unfortunately, the period of the tarantulas as mentioned above is over and you will have to catch the scorpions. So what are you waiting for, these are the substitutes for you!
