Finding the right place to stop and rest in Fallout 76 isn't easy. Not only is it necessary to defend against enemies on the map, but in this online chapter, other players can also become a problem.
In this guide we want to help you find the best spots within Appalachia, learn how to build your CAMP, and give you little tips to help you along the way.
Where to build your CAMP
The Fallout 76 map is very large and you would think any point would be fine. Unfortunately, it is very easy to run into grumpy neighbors who are ready to fight. Of course, everything changes if you are a budding (radioactive) player or if you are a veteran with high stats (or if you just love the risk). So here is a double list of tips.

For the inexperienced:
- Close to lakes and rivers
- Close to small towns
- Near areas for crafting weapons / armor / items
- Near small creatures
- A short distance from the key points of the missions
- Near some vendors
- Away from enemies
- Close to useful resources
- Around your friends and allies
- On flat ground
Anyone who wants a bit of a challengeinstead:
- On sloping ground
- Close to enemies
- Close to other players
- Away from the cities
- Away from resources
- Alone, away from friends
- Very close to the key points of the missions
The areas adjacent to the cities are certainly one of the safest spots as some robots may come to defend you from enemies who try to attack you.
Build your own CAMP
Open your Pip-Boy, press L1 / LB to go to the CAMP screen. To place it, you need to find a spot where it appears green, after which you are free to transfer your possessions or start building.
If you build it, remember that you must stay within the circumference that appears on the ground. At first it will be enough, but perhaps the most seasoned players may feel a little cornered. Each item placed also “costs”. CAMP has a maximum budget, regardless of the resources at your disposal.
To move an already built field, however, you will have to spend a few caps: in the initial stages, therefore, it is better not to do it too often. When you move the CAMP, the entire base is deleted so it is very important to save your work in a project.
Essential elements of the CAMP
There are a number of fundamental elements within a CAMP that should never be missing. Let's see them together:
- A kitchen area
- A zone for crafting weapons and armor
- A bed (useful for regaining life and earning the Well Rested perk)
- Automatic turrets
- A crate of stocks
It is also important to fortify your CAMP and placed turrets, so that you can defend yourself from threats. Be careful not to put anything in their line of fire: you would make them useless. It is also good to make repairs as often as possible.
Another very useful element for a base is the generator: allows you to place better machinery to, for example, obtain resources such as purified water. Obviously, the more machinery you want to build, the more generators you need. To make everything work, however, it is important to connect all the elements with the cables, so try to place the various gadgets next to each other so as not to make the wiring complex.
