In addition to Baizhu, version 3.6 of Genshin impact introduced kaveh, a 4-star Dendro element character who fights using claymores. In this guide we will give an overview of his skills and what, in our opinion, they are better builds in terms of weapons, artifacts and teams.
Kaveh is an on-field DPS, meaning he must remain on the field for a long time to give his best, with characteristics tailored to maximize the damage of elemental reactions Flowering (Hydro + Dendro), thanks to his passive skills and talents. If desired, it is also possible to use it in teams that focus on other elemental reactions, in particular Propagation, but in this case its potential is severely limited and in this sense there are units that can obtain better results.
Skill Overview and Talent Priorities
- normal attacks of Kaveh consist of a series of slashes with the claymore that are not particularly rapid but with a good range of action, so much so that it is easy to hit multiple enemies at the same time if they are grouped together. With the charged attack he spins the greatsword in circles until he runs out of stamina, which can be useful if surrounded. Kaveh's standard attacks aren't anything to write home about on their own, but they become especially important when his elemental riot comes into play, which we'll get to shortly.
With the 'elemental ability Kaveh carries out a circular area attack that causes Dendro damage to all enemies within its range, with more than decent damage and range, net of a recharge time of only six seconds. There is also a secondary effect: all Dendro cores created by the Blossom (Hydro + Dendro) elemental reaction that are within range explode immediately.
Kaveh's kit however revolves around his elemental riot "Painted Vault". Upon activation, it inflicts Dendro damage on enemies around it and explodes all nearby Dendro nuclei, after which a series of really good positive effects are activated for 12 seconds, net of an energy cost of 80 points. First, Kaveh becomes significantly more resistant to disruption, and all of his standard attacks gain increased range and are infused with the Dendro element. Furthermore, the damage of all the nuclei created by the Bloom reaction of the companions obtains a bonus (at level 10 of the talent we are talking about a bonus of almost 50%) which is added to the basic one given by the Elemental Mastery.
All things considered, Kaveh's elemental riot effects make him a perfect main DPS on reaction teams Flowering and can even work in synergy with Nilou's talents (which in turn tremendously boosts the damage of Dendro cores) creating an excellent pairing. She doesn't do badly even on Propagation-based teams (Dendro + Electro) considering that she can apply the Dendro element on opponents quickly and in an area of effect, but keep in mind that in this case a good part of her kit becomes superfluous.
Moving on to passive talents, thanks to "Architect's Achievement" the character does not suffer damage from the explosion of the Dendro nuclei, but rather recovers HP equal to 300% of his Elemental Mastery, to the point that with the right team and high statistics he might not even need a healer to stay upright (but the same doesn't apply to teammates). "Whimsical Ideas", on the other hand, increases Elemental Mastery by 25 points (up to a maximum of 100) every time Kaveh lands a standard attack during his elemental blaze.
Kaveh is a rather balanced character even without taking into account the Constellations, but since we're talking about 4-star units it's easier to unlock them, so it's worth mentioning some of the more useful bonuses. In particular, the second passive increases the speed of normal attacks by 15% during the elemental riot, while the fourth increases the explosion damage of the Dendro nuclei created by Kaveh with the Blossom reaction by a further 60%. The most useful passive, however, is the sixth, which generates a Dendro element area attack every 3 seconds and which has the additional effect of instantly exploding all nearby nuclei.
With regard to the talent priority active, all three are basically useful, so we suggest you develop them equally or alternatively give a pinch of priority to the elemental riot.
Artifacts and statistics
The best set of artifacts to use with Kaveh depends on the formation and what elemental reaction you want to aim for. We start from the premise that if no member of the team uses the four-piece set "Memoirs of Boscoprofondo" we suggest assigning it to Kaveh, as it reduces the opponents' resistance to Dendro, as well as strengthening the character's attacks. This is also the set we suggest if most of the Bloom reactions are triggered by Hydro-type characters .
Otherwise, if you are aiming for a team entirely focused on the Bloom reaction, the set for you is "Flower of Paradise Lost". In addition to increasing Elemental Mastery by 80 points, it significantly increases the damage of exploded Dendro cores, provided they are generated by Kaveh. Furthermore, bizarrely, four pieces of Ocean Mollusc could also work, causing non-elemental damage to three-second intervals in proportion to the amount of HP Kaveh restores with his "Architect's Feat" passive talent.
Alternatively, four pieces of "Golden Dreams". In addition to the base increase of 80 points to Elemental Mastery, this set increases this attribute by another 50 points for each team member using a different element than Kaveh and the ATK by 14% for each character with the same element. This, among other things, is the set that we suggest if you decide to use Kaveh for the Propagation reaction.
With regard to main statistics, considering the high cost of this character's elemental riot (80 energy points), we suggest that you first of all reach a sufficient amount of Energy Recharge to activate the ability at each rotation. We are talking about a value that fluctuates at least between 160 - 180% if you use another Dendro character in the team and 200% or more if he is the only one. This value drops significantly when using the Greatsword of Favonius (since it generates bonus particles with critical hits), but if you don't have it or are aiming for another weapon, we recommend that for the "sands" you opt for an artifact with Recharge of Power. Otherwise, opt for Elemental Mastery, an attribute that we also suggest for "chalice" and "crown".
for secondary statistics of the artifacts, what was said above applies, so priority to Energy Recharge, followed by Elemental Mastery and also if desired a little ATK and CRIT Rate don't hurt. In particular, this last attribute must be raised if you use the aforementioned Favonius Greatsword.
All of this applies when using Kaveh on a Bloom-based team. If you instead aim for the Propagation reaction, for the main statistics we suggest increasing the ATK, the damage bonus from Dendro and the CRIT rate, in addition to the Energy Recharge.
The best weapons for Kaveh
The weapon we recommend for Kaveh is the Armored Flower, the free Claymore obtainable only during the main limited-time event of version 3.5 of Genshin Impact. This greatsword in fact increases Kaveh's ATK and Elemental Mastery by 24% and 96 points respectively. Additionally, the bonus stat grants an additional 110 points of Elemental Mastery.
If for one reason or another you were unable to obtain this claymore, fortunately there is no shortage of alternatives. For example, we have the weapon that can be crafted by the blacksmith Glory of the Forest which activates a buff that grants up to 120 points of Elemental Mastery. Furthermore, the bonus stat is +30,6% Energy Recharge, which certainly doesn't hurt.
L'Makhaira aquamarine instead it offers a bonus to Elemental Mastery and its effect increases Kaveh's ATK in proportion to this statistic, among other things sharing part of the buff with all teammates; Also very good is the Fendiluvio, which increases Elemental Mastery and enhances damage to enemies affected by Hydro or Electro by up to 40%.
However, if you need a lot of Energy Recharge, the best option is the one already mentioned Spadone di Favonius, which raises this stat by a whopping 61,3% and generates particles on critical hits. Alternatively, there is also the craftable weapon Katsuragikiri Nagamasa, which increases damage from elemental abilities and regenerates the character's energy over time.
The best teams for Kaveh
Considering what has been said so far, it is clear that Kaveh is at his best only in teams based on Fioritura and, to a lesser extent, in those based on Propagation, which significantly reduces its versatility and available options. We also reiterate that this character is the perfect partner for Nilou, since their Dendro core enhancement effects are overlapping.
In any case, below we list some examples of ideal teams for Kaveh:
