"The Lonely Isle of Armor" is part of the Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion pass, available exclusively in bundles with the “Snowy Lands of the Crown” on Nintendo eShop. This first DLC will add new Pokémon, which will enrich the amount of monsters that can be used during the adventure. Not all players can still buy it for various reasons, but maybe they would still like to use the new Pokémon introduced, and it is possible to do so, I'll also explain how.
Methods for getting the new Pokémon without the DLC
There are several ways to get the new Pokémon added without buying the DLC, we report 3 of them:
- Trading with other players (trading is allowed)
- Transfer with Pokémon HOME
- Take part in Dynamax Raids organized by players with the Armor Pass
In short, you should definitely buy the Pass if you don't feel like relying on other players. But in any case, know that all is not lost since your version without DLC will still recognize the Pokémon introduced by the paid update. If you have any friends with the Pass but are not convinced and want to wait to find out more, you can simply pass the Pokémon over and buy the update later. This talk is particularly important if you like Urshifu, one of the best new extras in this expansion.
How to get to the Isle of Armor (for those with the DLC)
To learn more:
Pokémon Sword and Shield: a music that surrounds England
In case you have purchased the expansion, getting to the island will be quite simple. The game itself will notify you about it, so to speak.
After updating the game software, you will receive the Armor Pass, with which you can go to Brassbury Station and access this new island. The Isle of Armor will in fact be available as soon as you have unlocked the Wild Lands in the plot. The level of wild Pokémon and trainers in this DLC will scale according to your progress, up to a limit around level 60.
Thanks to volotaxi you can also resume your main campaign at any time. Corviknight in fact, in addition to being a transport for the cities, will escort you from Galar to the archipelago and vice versa.
This is the first time Pokémon has seen anything like this, and we can't wait to see how different the experience of a main title in the series actually is with this type of DLC. In this regard, I appreciate the fact that it is still possible to get the new Pokémon through the procedures I explained above, in order to help even the undecided. This expansion and the second could mark the turning point of this series often accused of being too backward.
