The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, how to upgrade Link's Batteries

Everything you need to know about how to upgrade Link's Batteries and Zonanium in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Link's new powers in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom open up to many unexpected solutions, but what has been able to steal the show during these first days are undoubtedly the devices that can be created with extreme ease by exploiting the Ultra Hand. By intertwining objects from the scenography and Zonau devices it is in fact possible to create practically anything the imagination can conceive, including vehicles, planes, tanks and so on and so forth.

The only limit to the functioning of these machines lies in the batteries available to the protagonist. Once the devices have been activated, they remain operational only as long as there is charge available in the protagonist's reserves. The duration has nothing to do with the objects used, but with the Zonau batteries tied to Link's belt. In This guide will cover how to boost Link's battery life and everything you need to know about the Zonanio, in order to deal with the topic in sufficient detail.

Below, however, you can find the index of our Tears of the Kingdom guide.

How to upgrade Link's batteries and Zonanium guide

A Refiner Golem, specifically the one from the central mine

To upgrade Link's batteries it is necessary to take a series of very specific steps, because the Zonanium refining cycle takes place in three very important phases: first of all there is the raw mineral to be collected, after which it is necessary to refine it, and finally you have to press it to increase the capacity of the batteries. Therefore it is necessary to procure large quantities of Raw zonanium, take it to a Golem Refiner which will do some of the work converting it to Zonau Energy Crystals, to then identify a Energy Cell Generator to complete the process.

Let's start from the Zonanio: this mineral is found in huge quantities in the subsoil of Hyrule. The best way to obtain them is undoubtedly fighting enemies covered in miasma, because they will always drop large quantities of minerals; in the same way the mines, which always arise in correspondence with buildings and inhabited centers present on the surface, host several deposits which can leave up to 5 small Zonanium minerals and 1 in the large variant. An important thing to keep in mind is that Zonanium is also very useful for other purposes: for example, if you use it Schematrix - of which you can find the guide at this link - you can create buildings for which you do not have the necessary materials simply by consuming a certain amount of Zonanium. So think about it carefully before moving on to the next step, because by depriving yourself of all the Zonanium you might not be able to materialize planes and hot air balloons out of thin air with the Schematrix.

The great central mine

I Refiner's Golem they are always found in conjunction with Large underground mines. These mines they arise below the main centres of Hyrule: the central Great Mine that you see in the photo above is for example exactly under the Temple of Time, but there are others under the Gerudo Citadel, the Rito Village and all the other villages present in the kingdom. These robots offer to convert your raw Zonanium into Cells or Crystals: to boost Link's batteries, you need to convert them into Crystals. The inventory of these Golems is limited, so once the supply of Crystals at their disposal is exhausted you will need to find another Refiner. Fortunately, these are never lacking in underground mines.

Central Hyrule Cell Generator

The last step is to reach any Cell Generator: the most convenient is undoubtedly the one indicated in the image above, since it is located just ten meters north of the Central Hyrule Guard Fort. By reaching the Golem who guards it, you will have the opportunity to transform the Crystals you have accumulated into batteries for Link's reserves. For creating a battery notch requires 100 Crystals, therefore our advice is to accumulate several of them before proceeding with the upgrade.

This was everything you needed to know about Energy Cells, Zonanium and Crystals. Sometimes Energy Crystals can also be found as rewards for certain challenges present underground, but for the most part you will have to rely on the conversion of the Zonanium you have accumulated; remember, however, that Zonanio is very useful for freely creating tools for the Schematrix.
