Please note:
The guide is based on the US version of the game for Xbox One. There may be divergences from the Spanish version and / or for other platforms.
Introduction and controls
Forza Horizon 2 can be considered a "massive" racing game that allows you to recover and use hundreds of machines to exploit during the various events that will occur in the game.
As you progress through the game, you will get both experience points and skill points. Experience points will allow you to level up. For each level-up performed, you will get the opportunity to spin the wheel - or to play a "jackpot" which will allow you, if you win, to get additional machines or bonus points to be used to upgrade your machines. standard.
Experience points can be recovered through various activities to be performed during the races, as well as by wandering freely along the game area, hitting the associated multiplier. At the top of the screen you will also notice a "meter", which will appear each time you get more experience points. Trying to fill this "meter" you can then use the experience points to further increase the level.
Events
The events will be signaled by an orange flash along the map. There will be several possible types of events. By activating an event you will simultaneously activate a series of "other" events, which can be completed later. Your score will depend on how well you complete each of the events. After you complete them in their entirety, you will be given a "rating" - gold, silver or bronze.
Completed a given event, you will then be asked if you have the will to deal with a player of your "rival". It could be a person on your friends list, or a randomly chosen opponent from an online list; you will go to fight against a "ghost" version of this type of enemies. You can get a bonus if / when you choose to successfully complete them.
It will be necessary to collect a total of 15 leagues in order to reach the "final" part of Forza Horizon. The events will consist of different types of races, themselves different depending on the vehicle you are using.
Types of Events
Circuit: a typical path with turns on itself. You will need to be able to proceed along the checkpoints while staying within the track, then reaching the outside world.
Cross Country: this is a completely dirt track, which will contain some sprints based on checkpoints.
Scramble: a combination of sprint and circuit.
Sprint: this is a single loop route. You will notice the progress in the upper left corner of the screen. Again, you will have to try to reach all the checkpoints before crossing the final line.
Street Race: a "standard" race, characterized by "standard" rules; however, you will need to pay extra attention to the rest of the traffic along the route.
Trail Race: the terrain you walk on will change constantly as you move from paved to unpaved road. The game will tell you to keep your speed, but instead we recommend that you focus on proceeding according to the rules of "standard" racing.
In each region there will be 28 different trophies that you can get. The type of machine you use will determine the trophy you can reach. In case you need to buy a new car to start a championship, you will be returned to the "associated" menu, with the aim of recovering the car in question.
Special events
Having completed championships, you will often automatically be "directed" to some special events, which may be of different types. Find the barn: in this way you will have to find hidden barns along the Forza Horizon 2 area. You will often be shown the "general" area where a given barn is located. Locate it to retrieve the "free" car that you will find inside a given barn.
Machine Encounter: These are special areas that will allow you to examine the machines of 11 other players. Here you will be able to examine in detail the cars of your "enemies", and then start a new race. Participants can freely decide whether to proceed or not, if they decide to do so they will be included in a new online multiplayer race. By completing the first meeting, you will unlock other events that you can complete during your "tour" of the world, without necessarily gaining access to other / new leagues.
Showcase: it deals with special races against some non "ordinary" subjects. For example, one of them will see you going to fight against air jets. Their strong point is fun rather than pure competition.

Force Hub
Starting from each of the game's regions, you will be able to enter the Forza Hub. You will need to proceed to the purple icon indicated as "Forza Horizon" on the map. All leagues available to you can be viewed within the Forza Hub. There will also be two other important functions: the Garage and the Showcase.
Garage: inside the garage you will be given options to upgrade your car. By clicking on the "Upgrade" option you can choose to "customize" the entire process; alternatively, you can perform a "Quick Upgrade", which will automatically select the parts needed to upgrade the class of your machine. You will therefore have much more freedom if you choose the "Custom" option.
The amount of customization possible will be truly remarkable: you can freely make changes to the engine, increase driveability, change the rear axle and / or insert a different type of tires, as well as modify the aerodynamics of the car and / or its external appearance. If you want you can make even more detailed changes by entering the "tuning" mode. To start the tuning you will have to press the X button while you are inside the garage. You can also access the tuning through the tile visible in the main garage. It will be possible for you to "save" the various machine setups in different slots, so as to "change" the setup in a very simple way. To do this, you will need to click on the "watch" button using the Xbox One controller. Then load everything from the main garage, then moving on to the next set.
Inside the garage there will also be all the cars you own. You can freely examine their statistics and select which of them you want to use. You will see on the left the value of your machine.
Within the "design and paintings" section you can examine and modify the look of your machine. The selected designs will be kept and can be shared online. You can also scroll through all the more "typical" designs and select which ones to download. Finally, the garage will allow you to view all the secret cars that you have "discovered" inside the barns.
Lastly, the Autoshow remains. This is the area where you can "scroll" through the various machines and select the ones you want to buy. You will need to try to get at least one car of each different type, and do it as soon as possible, so that you can access all the different types of leagues.
The "Story" Mode
The main "story" of Forza Horizon 2 will develop over the course of 15 different championships. After completing at least 15 championships, you will be able to go and unlock the "Horizon Finale". Once this is done, you will still be given the opportunity to move freely along the game map to go to complete other championships, if you wish.
The Initial Phase
The first objective to be completed will be to participate in a kind of "trip". These are not real races, but there will be several other cars in the area that will proceed in the same direction as you. By completing the first "trip" you will then be asked to select your first car, among three possible alternatives. The machine that you are going to choose and use will then determine the type of machines that you will face during the following races.
Having taken possession of your car, proceed to the first event. It is a race based solely on speed; after completing it, you will be prompted to complete another "trip". You will then be taken to Castelletto, the next main region. At this juncture, choices will be made available to you that will influence the continuation of the game.
Castelletto
Here you will need to complete three events. Once this is done, you can start with the Showcase. It is a race against some jets, a rather simple race. Each time you reach a checkpoint, you will be thrown forward to the first position. By completing the Showcase you will get a Ferrari.
Nice Massena
Starting from Castelletto you can proceed towards Nice Massena. Once in the area, you will begin to complete a large amount of events. Having completed a total of four events, you will earn the title of champion, and are then directed to Car Meet. Once in the area, the meeting possibilities will be listed.
With that done, head back to Forza Hub. Enter and you will be prompted to start a path to the next destination, which is the area near Sisteron. You will also have to choose the league. Once the decision is made, you can choose whether to buy a new machine or not. This will give you access to other "features" of the game.
Sisteron
Once in Sisteron you can do various activities. The first "barn" area will be indicated to you clearly and directly. We recommend proceeding quickly to the car inside. Head down to locate the barn, then completing the events in the area. There will be four that you will need to complete before proceeding to the championship.
Showcase 2
You will have to deal with a train here. As in the first Showcase, the apparent initial difficulty will only be ... apparent - you will almost certainly be able to complete everything without problems. For most of the ride you will be behind the train; when you reach a corner, try to decrease your speed. Then go back to turn repeatedly to the right. Upon reaching the final area, the route will further increase in importance. Hold the right trigger, then move the left stick forward as well, making sure you reach the final area before the train.
The next segment of the game sees you returning to the festival, completing the first day of Forza Horizon. As the day begins, you will be prompted to join a club or create a "new" one. The creation of a club (or joining an existing club) will be rewarded.
Montellino
This is the longest "trip" you will find yourself on. You will be prompted to try out a new car, with the aim of being able to complete different championships. We recommend that you do this, as it will make the continuation of the game more interesting. Ben will assign you a new objective as soon as you arrive. He will ask you to take photos of 20 different cars that will be presented to you during the festival. Each photo will provide you with some money. The first photo you will need to take will be of the car you are driving at the moment.
To take the photo, activate the "photo mode" by pressing and holding the "up" key of the digital pad. So change the settings, and quickly take the picture. The final quality of the photo will not be of major concern to Ben. Instead, you can observe all your machines and continue taking photos, activating the various events that will lead you to the next championship and then taking photos of the various machines. It is possible that you will have to change your type of machine, since initially you will only observe machines of your initial "class". When you have reached a number of 20, you will get a "CR" type bonus, and you will be asked to go and photograph 40 cameras.
You will then have to go on to complete four events. Once this is done, you will reach the championship victory and you can start the next "trip".
Saint-Martin
You will be given a lot of time to complete this path. Once you have reached your destination, you will immediately begin the next section of the championship. The second round of "locating" the machines in the barns will be activated soon after, and you will have to start taking pictures of the area again. Otherwise it will be sufficient to complete the four events and in this way quickly obtain the victory of the championship.
Saint John
A second completely standard area, made up of four different events.
One of them will be a championship; after you complete it, you will need to return to the festival hub to start the next day.
Back to Castelletto
This route will give you 10 minutes to return to Castelletto. Select the type of car you want to use for the next championship, and then go on to complete the path that will take you back to Castelletto to begin completing the subsequent events. Once you have completed another championship, you can unlock the next path that will see you return back to that of Montellino. Completing this championship will unlock the area where the third barn is located.
Back to Montellino
First, complete the four events required to gain access to the league. There will remain another 7, so you will be almost halfway through the "complete" ending. In the meantime, you'll need to complete a third Showcase, using a fleet of air-filled balloons.
Showcase 3 - The race against the balloons will actually be easier than the previous two races. In fact, the balloons will move rather slowly, so you will be able to reach the goal (exceed 37) without too much difficulty.
Instead, avoid any kind of shortcut that makes you "miss" a checkpoint, since losing a checkpoint will automatically send you back to the previous checkpoint. Even if you still have balls to pass near the final line, don't panic: as previously reported, they move very slowly, so you will be able to make up for lost ground.
Back to Nice Massena
This path will be very long, and you will have about 10 minutes to complete it. The roads will turn out to be almost completely straight, so you will almost certainly be able to maintain a very high speed along each road. You will first have to complete the first four events, then return to the main hub and proceed along the path that will take you back to the festival. You will then have to proceed another 6.5 miles to reach the playing area in question.
Back to Sisteron
In this area it will be sufficient to complete the four events assigned to you, thus obtaining the victory of the championship. In the next area you will then have to take care of examining the barn, which will be clearly indicated on the screen.
Back to San Giovanni
There will be four events here to complete.
Showcase 4 - You will also find yourself here "fighting" against a flying vehicle. This time it will be the only plane you will have to face. You will find yourself in the second position for the majority of the route, but don't stress too much to be able to reach the first. Once you have passed the last checkpoint, you will be almost guaranteed to be projected towards the first section thanks to a series of "boosters", and then reach the final line without problems.
Back to Saint-Martin
There will be four events here to complete, in order to finish an entire championship. Once this is done, you will be able to reach the final section of the Horizon. Then return to the Festival using the "trip" to proceed to the next phase of the game.
Nice Massena 3
You will need to complete the next championship to unlock the fifth Showcase.
Showcase 5 - You will have to see it against a jet. During the event you will be in the middle of a storm. There will be some sections of the event where you will be in first position, others where you will be almost "forced" to move to second position. As usual, it is essential to try to control the "behavior" of your machine as you approach the final line, as you will see it directly with the jet; remember that the jet will tend to slow down near the final line, so try never to lose hope even when / if a certain distance separates you from your opponent. By completing this Showcase you will unlock the next barn.

Castelletto 3
There will now be only two championships left before reaching the final. Here you will need to complete four more events before proceeding to the Forza Horizon finale.
St. John 3
You will find yourself here facing the final championship.
Final Horizon
At the end, you will be given the option to choose your favorite car from all the cars you have recovered so far in the game. The subjects you compete against will use machines with similar specifications to the one you have chosen. The finale will be played in "Street race" mode, and you will have to be able to finish at least third to complete it.
The Finale will last approximately 20 minutes in total. Always keep an eye on the radar, so you always know who and what is coming, preparing yourself properly. By completing the race, you will earn the title of Horizon champion. You will then have the possibility to decide where to move along the map. However, there will still be plenty to do and see in the world of Forza Horizon 2.
Bucket List
Bucket List type "challenges" will be scattered throughout the Forza Horizon 2 map, where you will need to use specific vehicles to get rewards. In this way you will unlock the possibility of completing these challenges, progressing through the "story". By continuing to unlock the various leagues, you will simultaneously unlock other "Bucket List" missions to complete.
The objectives for these challenges will normally be "repeated". There will be a total of 30, and they will be "gathered" in this type of challenge:
Destination: your goal will be to be able to complete a long distance course in a certain amount of time.
Skill Mastery: the various skills of the game and your ability to use them will be tested here. You will be given a path along which to proceed, and your goal will be to complete a certain amount of sub-goals within the time limit.
Skill Score: you will have to continue to perform maneuvers based on your skills to try to overcome the maximum score of the level. It consists of the best method to be able to obtain a sufficient amount of skill points so as to go to get new items.
Speed Trap: you will have to be able to overcome the target skill near the speed camera.
Speed Zone: you will also have to overcome the target skill here, but in this case you will have to do it by proceeding through a zone with a speed limit. You can get more information about it in the game section of the collectibles.
Collectibles - Boards
There will be two types of boards available in the game. Boards based on experience points, and other boards based on traveling at maximum speed. By taking advantage of one of these boards, they will be permanently docked within your map.
Three types of boards based on experience points will be present in the game: 1000 experience points, 7500 experience points and 15000 experience points. By destroying these boards you will get extra experience points.
The "fast" boards allow you to increase your travel speed along the various Hubs present along the map. The more boards you "overtake" along your route, the faster the travel will become.
To activate fast travel, you must first open the map, select one of the "Horizon" Hubs, and press the X button to start the journey. Along the way you will find 50 boards with 1000 experience points, 35 boards with 7500 experience points, and 15 boards with 1500 experience points. Finally 50 "additional" boards will remain, we recommend breaking even those with force.
Collectibles - Barns
Before starting the third championship, you will be given information about the "barns". These are hidden barns throughout the game that, once located, allow you to retrieve a new car. There will be a total of 10. Always keep in mind that you will have to wait for instructions before heading to a barn, you will not be able to project into the area at maximum speed. It is possible that the order of the barns in your "path" is presented differently than the following.
Fienile 1: The first barn will appear as an objective to be completed after you enter that of Sisteron. You will be provided with information on the surroundings of the barn. Proceed towards the area in question, starting from the west. Proceed to the pink area all the way to the north. Throw yourself along the various barn doors to retrieve the first car, a 110cc Alpine A1600. Before you can use it, Ashley will have to fine-tune it.
Fienile 2: you will find it in the Montellino region. Examine the map, then look at the area just north of the word "Montellino". Follow the road north, noting how you start to turn slightly to the right. Proceed to that area, then continue towards the trees to the west, reaching a stone fence surrounding the next barn. Follow the fence again until you reach an opening, then continue towards the barn again activating an intermission scene. Ashley will also have to restore this vehicle before you can use it in racing.
Fienile 3: continuing towards San Giovanni you will notice a road that goes west where there will be an accelerator. Head to this throttle with your vehicle pointing north. You can locate a hill in the eastern area. Use an AWD equipped car so you can drive up the hill. At the top you will find the third barn and a jeep to add to your collection of cars.
Fienile 4: this barn will be located in Italy. Locate the road that proceeds to the right. Place the cursor in the middle of the road, then move south to the top of the trees. This barn will not be as hidden as the previous ones, but still quite in the shade from the trees.
Fienile 5: it will be immediately north of the San Giovanni car.
Fienile 6: it will be located near the meeting between the machines. Starting from the meeting area, you will have to follow the road immediately south, until the trees begin to thin out. Then head east, locating the area near the barn. To make finding it even easier, we also recommend locating the nearby blue tractor.
Fienile 7: you will locate it immediately south of the letter "A" visible on the word "Italy". You will notice a small strip in the middle of the trees that indicates the way. Head to the center of the road and proceed slightly south, noting the presence of some trees along the map, finally recovering the barn.
Fienile 8: First locate the Bowler Exr S in the challenge list. You will find it near the south-east area of the map, just north-east of Castelletto. So start moving the cursor to the west, locating an area full of water. Go straight down until you find the trees. The barn will be located in the area.
Fienile 9: it will be much easier to locate than the previous one. Within the highlighted area, we recommend that you examine the trees in the shape of the letter Y. Move to the area just north of these trees, thus locating the barn.
Fienile 10: This barn will be placed in the center of the highlighted area. For further instructions, we recommend placing the cursor between the letter C and the letter E of FRANCE. Then proceed north to the highlighted area, so as to get an exact idea of the area where you will need to proceed.
Roads
The streets, of course, will be a key element of the game. Part of the game's requests will be about locating all the roads present, and there will be 315 in all. As you progress along a road, the game will make it clear to you and you can update the number of roads you have gone along. This will also compare the amount of roads you have been along with the amount that has been discovered by your "friends", and you can have a kind of race with them.
Speed Cameras and Speed Limits
The last possible system of "rewards" in the game will be represented by the areas with modifiable speed and the traps. These systems work with each other in a similar way: every time you "hit" them, the game will record your speed and provide information about it in the leader tables.
The main difference between variable speed areas and speed cameras is simple: variable speed areas will be clearly "marked" by the presence of a camera, which will mark the start and end of the specified area. Your goal will be to increase your speed within the specific zone. Your final speed will therefore be marked at the end of the game area, being "detected" by all the cameras present.
Conversely, speed cameras will not give you a specific area where you can progressively increase your speed - you will have to try to reach your maximum speed exactly at the speed camera.
