Honkai: StarRail it's a free-to-play game with gacha mechanics, but even those who don't want to spend a euro can still put together perfect teams to complete every single activity in the game. In this sense Sushang he is a very accessible character and a DPS that has little or nothing to envy to the much rarer and more expensive 5-star characters. In this guide we will give an overview of her characteristics and we will explain what in our opinion are the Light Cones, the Relic sets and the ideal statistics to obtain the better build possible for this character.
Sushang is a DPS type Physical del path The Hunt and therefore specializes in massacring single targets. Dalla boasts a kit with skills with excellent offensive scaling, mechanics that allow her to obtain buffs to SPD (speed) and ATK, as well as the enormous advantage of acting for multiple turns in a row.
Trace skill and priority overview
NB: whenever we talk about the values and statistics of Skill, Ultimate, Talents and so on we will always refer to those of the Traces developed at Lv. 9, or the maximum (ver. 1.x of Honkai: Star Rail) without Eidolon bonuses, in order to give an idea of the character's potential once developed.
To give an overview of Sushang's characteristics it is best to start with his Skill. This attack hits a single enemy with a scaling of 197% of the character's ATK and also has a 33% chance to land an additional strike at the end of the animation, called "Sword Stance", which deals an additional 93% of the character's ATK. ATK. If the target has suffered a "weakness break" (i.e. his stamina bar has been completely depleted) the chances of landing a "Sword Stance" become 100%. Keep this mechanic in mind, as we will return to it later.
Activating the Ultimate, Sushang hurls an angry giant bird (as in the image at the top of the article) at a single target which inflicts damage equal to 304% of the character's ATK. In addition to having excellent offensive scaling, this ability provides a series of really useful bonuses. The first is that Sushang's turn advances by 100%, basically he can act immediately afterwards. This means that in an ideal condition he can act three times in a row. For example, in the best possible scenario you could chain Skill > Ultimate > Skill. But that's not all, because for the next two turns the character gets a 28,5% ATK bonus and when he uses his Skill he has two more chances to activate extra "Sword Stance", which inflicts 50% of the original damage.
Il Talent it only further increases the frequency with which it acts in battle. In fact, every time an enemy suffers a Weakenss Break, even when Sushang isn't the one to trigger it, he gets a 19% SPD buff for two turns.
We already have a very respectable kit, but things improve further by unlocking the Bonus Ability of the Thracians. In particular, "Riposte" increases the damage dealt by all "Sword Stance" by 2% every time he hits one (up to a maximum bonus of 20%), while "Vanquisher" advances Sushang's turn. 15% after using a Skill or basic attack if there is at least one enemy on the field who has suffered a "weakness break".
Sushang's weakness, paradoxically, is precisely the frequency with which he acts, which leads this unit to quickly drain the team's Skill Points. This problem is largely overcome by the first Eidolon bonus, "Cutting With Ease", which regenerates a Skill Point every time the character uses a Skill on an enemy who has suffered a "weakness break".
Always staying on the topic of Eidolon bonuses, among the most useful ones we also point out the fourth, "Cleave With Heart", which increases the Break Effect statistic by 40%, and the last, "Dwell Like Water", thanks to which it is possible to obtain up to two stacks of the bonus to SPD of the Talent and one is offered by the house at the start of each battle.
Now that we have an overview of Sushang's features we can talk about it priority of Trace development. Considering what was said previously, it is worth investing as much as possible in Ultimate, followed by Skill and Talent. If you are short on resources you can put the Standard attack on the back burner, since in favorable conditions you will use it as little as possible.
The best Light Cones for Sushang
Moving on to Light Cones, the best option for Sushang is "In the Night", or that of the Seele banner. It increases the CRIT Rate by 18% and also increases the ATK by 6% and the CRIT DMG by 12% for every 10 points of SPD above 100, up to a maximum of 160, all useful bonuses for this character and which are well suited they marry to the high SPD he achieves thanks to his Talent.
The free 5-star Light Cone is also worth mentioning "Cruising in the Stellar Sea" which can be obtained in Herta's shop in the Simulated Universe. Increases CRIT Rate by 8% and doubles this bonus when attacking enemies with 50% or less health. It also increases ATK by 20% for two turns after the bearer defeats an enemy.
Among the much more accessible four-star options we find "Swordplay", which increases your damage by 8% each time you attack the same target, up to a maximum bonus of 40%. Great, but the activation condition may be limiting in some scenarios.
The alternative we recommend is the "Only Silence Remains", which offers a 16% ATK bonus plus a 12% CRIT Rate if there are two or fewer opponents on the field. The most accessible option is instead represented by the 4-star Light Cone "River Flows in Spring" which can be obtained with points from the Forgotten Hall or by completing the Echo of War. It increases the SPD by 8% and the damage by 12% but these bonuses are reset when the bearer is hit and are reactivated only at the end of the next turn However, this is not too unfavorable a condition for Sushang, given that he can act several times in a row.
The best Relics for Sushang
The best Relic Cavern set for Sushang is undoubtedly the "Champion of Streetwise Boxing". The two-piece bonus increases Physical damage by 10% while the four-piece bonus increases the bearer's ATK by 5% each time he attacks or is hit, up to a maximum bonus of 25%. However, if you have no way to Farming intensively for this set, you can also opt for a mix with two "Musketeer of Wild Wheat" pieces, which increase ATK by 10%.
For Ornaments, the choice falls on "Space Sealing Station", which increases ATK by 12%, a bonus that is doubled when the bearer has an SPD above 120, a more than accessible requirement for Sushang.
With regard to primary statics of Relic:
- Body: CRIT Rate or DMG to maximize character damage
- Feet: ATK% or SPD, also evaluated based on secondary stats
- Planar Sphere: Pjysical DMG Boost
- Link Rope: with ATK% you are on the safe side, but alternatively Break Effect is also not to be disdained
for secondary statistics the same principle applies. Pump CRIT Rate/DMG to maximize damage, followed by ATK% and Speed. Finally, if there are even a few Break Effect points, it won't hurt.
The best teams for Sushang
Considering what has been said so far, Sushang must play the role of main attacker within a team, with the rest of the team therefore being built around her to emphasize her peculiarities. In addition to the classic healer and/or shielder, then the best options are supporting characters like Tingyun and Bronya, thanks to the offensive buffs they can provide.
Below we offer a couple of examples, to be adapted based on tastes and needs:
