As for its predecessor, Nioh 2 contains a long series of bus then battere over and over as appropriate. Some of the main story may be repeated in secondary missions, others will instead be exclusive to optional scenarios and others will only be tackled in the main story or in the Twilight missions. So we decided to draw up below a guide to each boss, placing those of the campaign first in chronological order of appearance.

General advice

Before moving on to the actual list, it is good to keep in mind some advices which will be worth in any case addressed. The first is that of don't ignore both Ninjutsu and Onmyo magic and to take the time to understand which tools / talismans to bring on a mission. Increased defense, enemy slowdown, application of altered status and many other advantages can only be obtained from these branches and therefore it is good to use the dedicated locks to invest points in them as much as possible. A simple talisman can really turn around a difficult fight for you, so never underestimate this aspect in favor of pure sword art (just as important).

The second is that of don't worry about summoning aids through the Tombs of Mercy marked in blue, especially when the fight is purely based on canceling the enemy's Stamina. Cooperation is highly recommended in Nioh 2, so take advantage of it wherever possible. Also because, all in all, the damage of fellow NPCs from real players is still small and they will not be able to beat any enemy alone.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

Finally, even if taken for granted, it is good take on missions once the recommended level has been reached or exceeded. If you are under-leveled, the Bosses (but also normal enemies) risk killing you even with a single hit. By exploring often and making a clean sweep of everything that comes your way, you will go far beyond the level required by the missions at least until the final stages of the game, just enough time to get used to the systems and create a more defined character in the characteristics.

Mezuki

The very first boss you will encounter in the first mission is Mezuki: a demon of gigantic dimensions that crosses a humanoid figure with a horse. You will immediately notice his huge ax full of serrations, which is the main offensive means that will be directed towards you. The frontal attacks of the Mezuki are slow and quite telegraphed, thus giving you ample room for defense as long as you are not too stingy in attack combos.

The ideal is to position yourself behind him during his sweeps, but be careful: if you are too attached to his rear he will kick like a crazy horse, hurting you very much. Also keep an eye on when it will have a red aura, a sign that you will have to familiarize yourself with considering that it will apply to every existing enemy. When this happens, from here on, always try to stop the move with a Yokai-form counterattack by pressing L2 + Circle. This will hit the enemy's Stamina hard, stunning them for a few seconds.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

Another Boss mechanism is that of summon the Dark Realm once the stamina of normal form is destroyed, enhancing your attacks and giving you the typical penalties of such an atmosphere. In the case of Mezuki there is talk of an upgrade to his main arm, increasing the frequency of attacks and the number of combos he performs. Attention also to frontal charges, also abundantly reported. Mezuki can be tough as the first boss, but it is essential to take advantage of this opportunity to assimilate the hint well and accept the fate of finding yourself in front of the first of a series of clashes where the game over screen will often be your company.

enra

The second meeting at your disposal will be a demon of fire and ashes, capable of teleporting into a burning arena. His kit is a mix of physical and ranged attacks, plus the ability to summon flaming explosions around him. Again the ideal approach is to get behind him as much as possible, especially when you see him summon a series of tornadoes or flames in an arc in front of him.

When it generates explosions that surround it, it is possible to remain attached to its body in order to avoid (with a bit of luck) the damage. But even more important it is make it bang on the columns that make up the arena, so that so the pockets of water above them they throw themselves on him, inflicting damage and a very hard blow to the stamina.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

In the Dark Realm Enenra will be more inclined to teleport, also increasing the number of chained shots before stopping. The explosions will have more range and the tornadoes will increase in quantity depending on how much life is missing. The only real obstacle to this fight is the fire and the state that goes with it. By taking precautions in this regard, perhaps using water talismans, you will have an easier life. Also, use Yokai skills to deny him some stamina, like for example Enki o Yoki.

Yatsu-no-kami

This boss is Nioh 2's first real challenging obstacle, considering its size and the speed with which it attacks. Being a giant snake it is easy to predict his moves, which are mainly composed of charges and "warheads" alternating with altered states occasional related to the poison, as was guessed by the path taken to get to him.

In normal form, the fight is pretty straightforward and the only serious attack to avoid is when he puts his arms into the ground, sinking them and pulling them out under you as if he were using Pokémon Pit. The problems begin when he enters his Dark Realm form, detaching his arms and spawning two small enemies that will literally be a huge nuisance. To overcome this obstacle, the best solution is to use the Bombs or face it all with a player / NPC and make sure that he does not die too soon.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

Bringing antidotes is recommended, so you can only focus on dodging and counterattacking in Yokai form. You will surely come to resort to Transformation to take away the last bar of life left from him, being a fight where the Elixirs will be wasted like never before. Don't delay and use whatever you have to get rid of him quickly before he can put you in a corner with the poison and his two summonable minions.

Imagawa Yoshimoto

The first human boss of the game is Imagawa Yoshimoto, a general that we will have to hunt down in our first moments of war in the history of Nioh 2. This opponent uses a long spear with two katanas and a bow from which he can shoot electrified arrows. His attacks are pretty standard, consisting of lunges and quick combos that are more or less restrained with the guard. Like all human bosses, It is possible to counterattack using the skills related to the Guard as long as you have the right reaction speed.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

Also pay attention to the parade poses he will perform, capable of making you jump, greatly reducing your stamina and using the backlash to punish you. The real threat comes from the elephant his Guardian Spirit, which allows Yoshimoto to storm the field with lightning in a cone in front of him. Thankfully it's a very visible and foretold attack, giving you time to dodge it. The least visible is the rain of arrows that could come at you even after you shoot them in the sky, forcing you to constantly move until it stops. In general, bringing some protection to the thunder will make it easier for you to fight, but you will still have to base your strategy on removing the general's stamina and assaulting him with executions as he recovers it.

Kamaitachi

This Aratama will be quite present as you progress through the game, but facing it for the first time will be like going on a trip to the forest of flying daggers. In fact the Kamaitachi is a weasel with some blades on the legs and tail, capable of generating strong (and cutting) gusts of wind simply by moving. It doesn't help that you face him in an arena full of trees that he can climb and hit you without being able to fight back to the Explosive Auras. In his normal phase, this boss will charge you with very fast three-hit combos and will occasionally spin around to generate updrafts. Watch out for the grip with the tail: has a fairly large radius and also hurts a lot.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

A Talisman to slow the enemy down will make this fight enormously easier, at least until he enters the Dark Realm by becoming much faster and acquiring the ability to create copies that can make ferocious spinning attacks towards you. When this happens, try in every way to dodge / parry at least the initial blow to avoid being completely injured by all blows in quick succession. In general, however, despite the lack of real weaknesses, the fight with the Kamaitachi is quite simple as long as you understand that it is not possible to charge it head down and fill it with long combos. Small assaults and quick escapes are ideal for dealing with it, making weapons like Tonfa, Kusarigama and double Hatchets perfect for the fight. Which is bad news for all heavy gun users.

Yoshitatsu

The clash with Yoshitatsu is the first in which we will face someone capable of using the transformation into Yokai, albeit in a different way from ours. At this point in the game, however, the enemy boss will have an advantage over us: he will have two spirits to draw from, taken directly from those we did not choose at the beginning of the game. In its normal form, the fight falls into that between samurai, being able to carry out counterattacks and aiming everything at decreasing his stamina as soon as possible to hit him with lunges and executions. Sometimes he will be able to draw from his Guardian Spirits and use some elemental slash, which can be obviated with an Explosive Counterattack.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

His ferocity in attacking as fast as possible increases when he uses Yokai Form, exhibiting techniques similar to ours when we transform. The best approach in this case is to dodge and wait for the end of the combos to land one or two hits, in order to avoid being the victim of his rather sudden retaliation. Clearly, if you use a Sloth Amulet the fight will become enormously easier, considering that its main offensive characteristic is speed.

Tatarimokke

This three-eyed owl is a challenging boss more for the mechanics than for the threat of his moves. Its main attacks will not vary based on the Dark Realm, thus always exhibiting the chance to fly and scratch, extend its wings as shots rotating and firing laser beams from its central eye in any direction. Approaching this enemy is therefore an arduous undertaking in itself, considering that if it is not in flight most of the time it will turn on itself to hit everything around it.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

The window of opportunity opens when he summons the Dark Realm and renders the battlefield completely devoid of light except for a single red sphere that has the same mechanics as the area just explored. In fact, heading towards this globe andinstructing him as quickly as possible it will be possible to instantly download the owl's Stamina and make it fall to the ground to attack it. The advice is therefore to make sure to kill the red sphere before the boss has time to come and attack you, perhaps by distancing you first from the target, being followed by the bird and then running towards the weak point in red. Using the points in Onmyo, take advantage of them to unlock the Steel Amulet and increase your defense, considering how much you could be moved during the most hectic phases.

Magara Naotaka

Magara Naotaka is a gigantic warrior Yokai that you will face in an ice arena (and even more than once in some missions) with a huge ice sword. His powerful physique allows him to wield this Odachi as if it were a Katana, generating heavy blows and frozen plates on the edge of the blade. The peculiarity of the boss is to do slow but extremely powerful attacks, using his Herculean strength to rotate on itself and hit everything around him. It can also generate ice blasts with your feet or blows on the ground, but in general their execution is so slow that you will have no problem avoiding it.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

In the Dark Kingdom Magara Naotaka only gains more ferocity with no particular additions to her moveset, if not increased use of the Explosive Aura to guarantee you openings with the counterattack. Bring lots of Elixirs and some Herbal Medicine to deal with the massive damage it can pull off, especially if you use a heavy weapon and get caught often. Don't be greedy with combos, limit yourself to a maximum of three hits and try to make him drop his stamina as soon as possible.

Azai Nagamasa

Remaining in the terrain of warriors capable of tapping into the Yokai kingdom, Azai Nagamasa he is a general who immediately introduces himself to his mixed form with bird man which has two large wings on its back. Attacks with the katana and its feathery appendage, which in the normal phase is only half of the wingspan. His attacks are tremendously fast and he can use his wing to parry and counter immediately, forcing you to dodge unless you are hit by a slash from above. Spacing it will be of little use: not only does it have lunges that can reach you anywhere, but it can rely on the element of water to generate explosions that are anything but harmless. Paradoxically, its weak point is precisely the attachment of the wings with which it defends itself, so aim for the back with a high pose. Good luck though - his speed and reaction is so fast it'll be hard to get there unless you use a sloth talisman.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

When he enters the dark realm, the second wing also grows, allowing it to fly, shoot feathers, and swoop down on you with attacks that are impossible to counter. The only thing is to parry or move, hoping not to see your stamina drop significantly. We recommend Sacred Water to quickly recover Ki even in this phase, especially because he certainly won't stop coming at you with rather long and lethal combos. On the other hand, however, his weakness becomes more evident and therefore try to take advantage of the landing phases to punish him enough. It will be a long battle of attrition, arm yourself with patience and every possible precaution.

Saika Magoichi

After Azai, you will face another bird Spirit user and old acquaintance for Nioh players. For veterans it will be enough to remember the fight of the past to overcome everything without problems, considering that the moveset is the same as in the first chapter. New players need to know that Magoichi is a skilled marksman who glides across the battlefield shooting you shot after shot. He also attacks closely, but when you walk away to drink an elixir you will notice the annoyance he can give you when he points at your head with his rifle or uses the normal / cluster bombs.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

To make matters worse, it can cast fireballs that will chase you for a short period of time, as well as several other elemental attacks always linked to that element. Try not to be too intimidated and use the columns of the arena to protect yourself from shots and any short range attacks. Magoichi is in fact more a miniboss than anything else, once you understand his strategy you will be able to beat him without problems. When he flies, also try to hit him in the descent, in order to make him fall badly and have a chance to attack him with a nice combo.

Gyuki

Faced with Azai, you will have to go to the real boss of the mission: a bull mixed with an insect to be fought in an arena near a dam. First, make sure you slam it on the latter in order to unlock the related trophy, although it will probably happen anyway during the fight. The Gyuki is a very powerful being more for its size that for his moves, in fact what he will do is slam his appendages or hit you with the two front blades, and then shoot a lethal laser beam from the mouth who, even parrying you, will kill you immediately. The best strategy is to point to its hind limbs where there are two agglomerations of Stones of the Spirit: dand weaknesses (usable only once for the whole fight) able to make it fall once destroyed.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

Destroying the Gyuki's stamina is the only strategy to get out alive and unscathed, especially if Yokai skills are used to block part of the bar. Being a giant, take advantage of any Soul Core that has a large area of action. It will also be vital to use the Explosive Counterattack to capitalize on its slow moves, as long as you are very careful when it rises into the air. In addition to jumping, in the dark realm it grows two wings on its back with which it can rise from the ground for a short period of time, swooping down on your heads with ferocity.

Kasha

Don't be fooled by its generous shapes: Kasha is a formidable enemy who will have absolutely no mercy on you, whipping you with his whip of fire as he surrounds you in an infernal circle with his sharp wheels. The arena in which you will face it will also be full of flames, so be very careful and use the various amulets of the Water element to defend yourself. Kasha's approach is normally that of run around the map leaving flaming trails, hitting you from a distance with long range attacks. If you manage to get close, you will have no problem using the spikes of the wheels to hit you repeatedly with attacks that can destroy your stamina if you decide to parry them. Or it will jump to cause an explosion below her, capable of immediately setting you on fire without adequate protection.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

When he enters the Dark Realm, its fire will increase in intensity and turn blue, intensifying the damage of the attacks and increasing the number of times it will circle around you, closing all the way out and condemning you to probable death. To face it in the best possible way it is therefore necessary to be very careful not to end up in the flames, aiming for the Spirit Stones that are on every single wheel and that will grow back in the course of the fight. Denying him mobility with Sloth might be a good idea if you're having too much trouble, but even then you'll have to deal with his quick, close-range offensives. Avoid going too far with combos and prefer one or two heavy attacks well placed on the stones. Finally, hurry up and get out of the way the two Gaki he can summon, better if you can guess which attack it uses to call them, so you can use Yokai Skills like Ippon Datara's to get rid of them in one fell swoop.

Ryomen sukuna

This boss is a fusion of two: a face embodies fire and is equipped with a close combat weapon while the other embodies ice and uses a bow and arrow to create elemental explosions. Although the main body is only one, rotating the torso will change characteristics and face you with different strategies. The face of fire will aim at hit you with spinning attacks and powerful blaze-generating slashes. The ice face will fire shots that will land on the visible markers on the solo, following you for a short period of time and creating ice spikes that will explode on contact. It can also generate frost birds that will fly around the arena, while the fire demon can throw three spinning balls at you that explode upon your contact.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

Crystals are scattered throughout the arena that will upgrade your weapon to one element or another. Take advantage of weaknesses and resistances to have a little advantage e counterattack with the explosive blow as soon as possible as soon as you see the red aura forming on the boss. If you allow him to make his explosive attacks you will be the victim of a ferocious spinning volley of shots, explosions and arrows - definitely to be avoided. Watch out for the socket that the face of fire can do, also because at the end of it it will leave you inflamed and if you have little life it is like signing the death sentence. In the dark realm his combat will not be very different from normal, but being empowered it is good to do everything to destroy his stamina as soon as possible.

Maeda Toshie

An extremely agile spear holder with a series of repetitive blows that can consume all your stamina. The battle arena is not very large and therefore the large lunges it can do will cover almost all the ground that you will be able to gain by distancing yourself, putting yourself at risk in case you fail to avoid them. Fortunately, many of its attacks are preceded by a rotation coming directly from the skills that can be acquired in the Spear branch, so the owners of this weapon will find themselves much more advantaged than the others.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

While his standard attacks fall into the Revenant pattern, when he reaches mid-life he will start at use his Guardian Spirit to summon flames to search, explosions of fire to which you are now accustomed and infuse the blade with flames capable of burning you. The main advice is therefore to dodge whenever you see him calling the Spirit and using Sloth to slow him down and make the fight enormously easier.

Shibata Katsuie

A giant Yokai warrior with two long fangs extending from his face and a pair of flaming hatchets. This monster will charge you on any occasion and his method of attack is mostly tied to a single combo that ends up with a big lunge on the ground. Its size therefore allows us to hide behind his back and stay relatively safe until he decides to swing the hatchets around him or throw them at us. There are two ways to stop some of its charge: one is parrying it and the other is making it hit the wall, although the second only works after a bounce or two.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

In the Dark Realm he gains properties of fire in every attack and, moreover, will be able to summon spirit boars that will charge you leaving behind a flaming trail. As with Kasha, the best defense is to use pRotations / Weapons with Water Element and strike in the back as well as aiming to break the very evident gold-colored fangs. His most fearsome attack is a grab he lunges at you, many times difficult to avoid due to his size and speed. When this happens, either counter with the explosive move or make sure you are as far away as possible and run out of range.

Tokichiro

Face up to Tokichiro in this phase it always falls into the archetype of human warriors, specifically the warriors with the double katana. This discipline has very long chained attacks, reduced stamina consumption and the ability to approach the opponent quickly. All things that Tokichiro has learned and will use against you, letting the best strategy be to hit with a few hits between his combo and the other, in order to break his stamina. The special thing about this boss is that he can summon two guardian spirits: one is a monkey who will attack you consecutively with jumps and impossible to interrupt, while the other is a tapir and what he will do is put Thunder and Fire on the warrior's blades. In this setting it can inflict two altered states on you even with the simplest of combos.

The greatest threat of confrontation is Tokichiro's use of some buffs that will enhance all its features. Preventing him from being able to drink from his flask is essential to make the fight easier, which in any case does not have particularly problematic phases and will be weak to all counterattack moves by the guard. Using Sloth, as with all other human encounters, will make fighting a lot easier.

Hachisuka Koroku

This is also an old acquaintance of yours that you may have faced in the past during a side quest. This Boss uses a Kusarigama with extreme skill, summoning water from the tip of its attacks. The peculiarity of the fight is that in the normal phase its weak point is the chest, as well as having the possibility to stun it with normal attacks like any human enemy. Although the attacks have a wide range, their execution will take time and if you can get past the Kusarigama's mesh then you will have no problem hitting it.

But when he enters the dark realm things will get complicated: the shell will become the real weak point and can no longer be stunned by normal attacks. It will summon tons of water blasts all over the ground, while using the shell to spin and hit you like a Kappa-style top. It is also able to summon Kamaitchi who will launch some of their fearsome attacks, just to favor. In this phase it is imperative to parry short-range attacks and dodge every shot of the Kamaitachi as, if hit by them, you will also find yourself suffering the combo of the boss himself. Even Sloth in this fight will be of little help, aim for explosive counterattacks and all possible techniques to destroy the stamina in maximum two chained hits. Maintain a medium distance and don't stray too far when you need to heal.

Daidara Bocchi

More than a fight, this is an almost scripted event. This is a giant boss who has spirit stone nails to hit when on the ground. It will only shoot lasers from the eyes but are unlikely to hit you, such as explosive attacks which take a long time to charge before hitting. Trim off with whatever means of attack you have and climb up on the arm to hit the monster's true weak point and take about half of its life out of the way. If you use an NPC companion, it will be even easier.

Nioh 2 | How to defeat all the Bosses

Shuten doji

This ancient Yokai warrior represents the fighting style of drunkenness. Indeed he fights with a large club, drinking from his flask from time to time and using her long golden hair as a fire-type offensive medium. His movements are random and unpredictable, even if at the same time his size and slowness of execution make him a manageable threat after all. His approach is more frontal than anything else, leaving her back completely uncovered except when she decides to swirl her hair, which can still be avoided by simply snapping back.

When he enters the Dark Realm the fight will get a little fiercer and a lot of Shuten Doji's attacks they hit your stamina hard. He will also be able to breathe flames by drinking alcohol from the flask, representing the only means of remote attack he has. The problem with this phase is that his stamina will constantly regenerate, so it will be imperative to aim to strike its most obvious weakness: the flask itself. The more you hit it, the quicker you will get out of the most dangerous phase of this clash, and face the opponent with more peace of mind outside the Dark Realm.

The Fearful Lady

Similar to Daidara Bocchi, Lady Okusabe is a great castle boss who attacks using the ocular appendages it possessesAnd. In this fight, possibly to be done with the summonable NPC ally right next to the boss room, the only thing you have to do is attack the four "heads" that will appear on the sides of the arena. The problem is that each of them will throw elemental balls of variable speed, combined with laser beams of each element. There will be some physical attacks such as sweeps and blows on the ground, both fearsome and capable of taking away a lot of life. The best strategy for beating the appendages is to hit them little by little and wait for them to use the red aura for counterattack with the Explosive move and completely destroy their little stamina. When they are on the ground, make sure you use all possible hits and that you don't have to be interrupted by other attacks. By repeating the process for each single "head", you will reach the end of the fight simply by doing the exact same steps.

Tokichiro - Second Encounter

Arrived at the final battle, you will finally have to fight again with Tokichiro and his "emperor" form. At the base of his moveset the characteristics of the previous fight remain: Double elemental swords, ability to summon two guardian spirits and use numerous elemental moves from a distance. Among the new possibilities we can see a very rapid discharge of slashes capable of creating blades at supersonic speed, which results in your stamina completely destroyed in case you try to simply parry them, finally afflicting you with both burns and paralysis. This move can always be performed by Tokichiro, making her one of the biggest threats of the fight.

In this fight, however, Tokichiro can transform using the two Guardian Spirits, acquiring a form that cannot be stunned by normal attacks like all other human enemies. The attacks of transformation are similar to those of the human formHowever, the combos will be followed by numerous elemental explosions and some teleportation that will take the general directly over your head for a swoop hit with elemental area created upon landing. As difficult as it may seem to you to hit Tokichiro, the trick in this case is to dodge every shot by taking more and more distance and keeping himself safe until he has finished his combos. When that happens, you will notice that he will stand still for some time, long enough to land three well-placed hits and try to work on destroying his stamina, top priority. Also remember that in the human form it is also possible to counterattack with the guard skills and, instead, in the demonic form it will be required to work with the explosive counterattack. If you have brought the Sloth Talisman, use it only when you see it enter its transformation. If you find yourself taking too many hits, use protections against paralysis and thunder attacks, as this state is very impractical in this fight.

Dark Monk

After beating Tokichiro you can rest only for a few seconds: in fact you will have to face another fearsome enemy immediately after your previous fight. You will likely be short of any healing resources, so in that case it will be better to die and go back to the sanctuary to fight to the best of your ability (you won't have to face Tokichiro again). This is especially useful when you realize that it won't be enough to defeat him once: this boss will come back to life after he dies, a bit like it happened on Sekiro to be clear.

The battle is therefore more of attrition than of skill. In the first phase the monk will almost always be at a distance and it will evoke some particular effects. The first is acid rain that leaves puddles of poison on the ground (bring Antidotes), the second is pillars of fire that hit different areas of the arena, and the third is a lightning storm aimed at the ground below you. By managing to avoid these moves, your goal is to get as close as possible and punish him while enchanting his spells. Beware though: he is able to use the sword he has in his staff with short 4-5 hit combos, so never let your guard down thinking he's just a spellcaster. In the Dark Realm his abilities remain unchanged, except for the fact that he is able to generate illusory clones that use his own moves . If you have a Kusarigama or a weapon that covers a wide range, you will be facilitated. If not, try to spot the original right away and focus on it to break the magic.

When he is reborn, the clash will not undergo any kind of variation if not its greater vehemence in the execution of attacks from a distance and with the sword. In this phase you will have few Elixirs, but you can count on the full bar for the Yokai transformation. Make the most of it, along with the Yokai skills acquired so far, and you will be able to beat him even faster thanks to his reduced defenses.

William

At some point in the game you will find yourself fighting William, the protagonist of Nioh. Being also a human being, you will find yourself facing a katana user with all the moves of the respective branch. As some may know, however, William is able to use Saoirse to enchant his weapon and do elemental damage from water or fire depending on the setting. Its ffootprint Living Weapon is the only threat of this clash, which in reality is only a sort of small narrative interlude in which you will hardly find who knows what difficulty.

Otakemaru

And here we are, at the final showdown in the story of Nioh 2. The battle with Otakemaru begins with your three Yokai forms assumed by the enemy: Brutus, Fierce and Ghost. Each will behave exactly as you've seen them do on your adventure, which means Brutus will focus on heavy physical attacks, Fierce on quick hits and dodges, and Ghost on ranged hits with flying daggers. Whenever you hit one of the forms enough, Otakemaru will randomly switch to the next one. From this stage you will be helped by someone on the outside with a guardian spirit summoned on the enemy, capable of taking away a good slice of stamina with bursting blows. Take advantage of this helper and the Explosive Counterattacks to weaken the boss.

Once he has had enough of using your Forms, Yokai will pass to his real face: a humanoid demon with three flying swords floating around him, each symbolizing a specific element. With these blades it will do long sweeps on the ground, search slashes, elemental explosions and apply all three possible altered states to it. Her combos will be long and dodging the first few hits will be important if you decide to parry them. The real trick of the clash, in addition to the general ones, is never, ever let him use attacks with a red aura. If he does, you will almost certainly end up on the mat. Fortunately, you will have enough time to counterattack and block his shot in the bud. In defense, it dodges very quickly and can teleport over you for close and ranged attacks. Always try to go behind his back and do not chain more than three shots together, always preferring dodging to parrying because of the many shots he manages to release in a row and the accumulation of altered states.
