The Reaper is an optional Persona 4 Golden boss that can be encountered in dungeons under certain conditions. The reason it is worth seeking out is that it gives great rewards and what it takes to earn the coveted platinum trophy.
It takes enough preparation for this boss, but there are some useful "tricks" to defeat him rather casually.
Where to find the Reaper?
The answer is simple: it is found in every dungeon, but I recommend you meet it in the very first dungeon. Why? Very simple, Yukiko's Castle has the boss fight simpler with the Reaper, and it will really save you a lot of time.
You can also try other dungeons, but get ready for a battle that is certainly more difficult than expected. In the final dungeons, the Reaper can attack twice per turn and abuse Mind Charge and related elemental spells to finish you off immediately. Not forgetting the Light and Dark abilities which are insta-kills most of the time.
How to meet the Reaper
After about 20 open chests you should be able to meet the mysterious boss. Just open 20 chests in any dungeon, exit, save and go to another dungeon, like Yukiko's. Go to 5F and open the two chests present. If nothing happens, reload the game and try again. Do not open golden chests as otherwise the method does not work!
If you hear a noise of chains you are on the right track, but not necessarily, facing the Reaper. If you get a warning from Rise before opening a chest then it means you are about to face the boss.

Avoid as the plague Light and Dark since it is immune to it. Any attack is fine for the rest, but don't count on any weaknesses, as the Reaper doesn't have any.
For dungeons later in the game, I recommend equipping accessories to protect your teammates' elemental weaknesses instead, so as not to give additional turns to the two he has base in these dungeons.
However, it has in store, in addition to the aforementioned Mind Charge and elemental attacks, Break, which will cancel the elemental resistances, thus making this an equal battle in which it will be really difficult to abuse the weaknesses on both sides.
Rewards obtainable from the Reaper
By defeating the Reaper, you will especially get special rewards for your teammates. For every time you defeat him, you will get the best weapon for one of your teammates.
Once everyone gets theirs, they'll start dropping off their best armor, and once they're finished they'll drop their armor. Omnipotent Orb, a unique item that blocks all enemy attacks (except Almighty ones) for one turn.
