Persona 4 Preview: Dancing All Night

Persona 4 Preview: Dancing All Night

Released in Japan on June 25th, 4 Person: Dancing All Night created a schism among fans of the series Shin Megami Tensei given the “different” nature of the new spin-off of the Atlus title. Out at the end of September in the United States and on November 6 in Europe exclusively on PlayStation Vita, today we are here to offer you our first impressions after a few days of dancing with Yu, Chie, Rise and the rest of the Persona 4 cast.

It's time to dance!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night differs from previous titles due to its rhythm game structure and offers the player two game modes: Free Dance Mode and Story Mode. We will talk about the second in the review, while now we will deepen above all what concerns the free mode. Initially you will be able to choose only between four songs, and as they are completed it will be possible to unlock almost all the tracks (about thirty) with only two of them compulsorily obtainable through the story mode. One of the defects that we noticed while playing the Free Dance Mode is the impossibility to choose the character who will dance a certain song, being linked to it during the Story mode and only the clothing (including accessories) and the partner with whom we will interact will be editable. during the "Fever Time".
Persona 4: Dancing All Night also offers a great customization of the usable dancers to which you can modify precisely elements such as accessories, for example headphones (with the famous collaboration with Denon) and sunglasses, all available for purchase from Tanaka's Amazing Commodities with the money that will be obtained by dancing to the songs and trying to establish higher and higher scores (with the degree ranging from failure to "Crazy King" obtainable by doing everything perfectly).

In addition to the quantity, as mentioned before about thirty tracks available, the quality of the songs present in Persona 4: Dancing All Night, proposed among a selection of original and remix versions, of which we will focus in detail in the review.

But show me how you do 'o tippo stopper!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night has two types of controls: one more traditional with the buttons on the console and one with the touch of PS Vita. The first sees the player use the Up, Left and Down buttons of the D-Pad and Triangle, Circle and Cross to beat the yellow balls that will appear during the song in time. The analog sticks will also be used to perform the so-called "scratch" to be carried out in the presence of two types of circles: one blue that increases the combo count and the other rainbow that increases the "Fever" bar, which once full, in certain points of the song will trigger the aforementioned "Fever Time", which will increase the score obtained by the various notes and above all will make the partner designated for the song intervene on stage, thus greatly increasing the satisfaction of the Shadow, which from enemies of the series in this edition of P4 become our audience, thus allowing us to finish the level more easily.
The touch system will allow you to do the exact same things as the classic one through the push-button panel, acting directly on the screen in a more intuitive way. In addition to the individual spheres there will be two other elements: the Unison Note and Hold Notes. The former consist of two pink notes tied together that must be pressed at the same time, while the Hold Notes are icons that must be pressed while maintaining pressure until the end of the bar is reached. The game has three difficulty levels plus an unlockable secret by completing the story mode and purchasing all the items, which differ in speed and the amount of notes present making the higher levels truly hell for those not used to the genre.

Comment The first impressions of Persona 4: Dancing All Night are certainly positive, the songs are really high quality even if it is quite limiting that they are only danceable by one character (even if for storyline needs) and it is certainly suitable for both fans of the genre that fans of the saga. Keep following us to not miss the full review of the game that will arrive in the next few days. Pros and cons Many songs and of great quality ...
