In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, horses make a return in style despite the amount of construction the protagonist has become capable of thanks to his new powers. Having a horse is a good idea for several reasons: they can chauffeur you to the four corners of the world without using up batteries, they can pull carts and carts thanks to their harnesses, and then... well, they are simply beautiful to look at and collect.
Getting a horse is very simple: just approach without being noticed, mount, and slowly calm the animal by gently pressing the left back button of your controller. At the beginning the horse will not obey your orders and it will be very important to build a bond, petting it every time it listens to you, giving it something to eat and preventing it from being attacked by Hyrule's monsters. On this page we have collected the horse guide and everything you need to know about the horses in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: unique variations, stables and stable points, the God of Horses and much other useful information. At the bottom of the page you will find the list and position of the best horses.
At this address, however, you can find the index of our complete guide to Tears of the Kingdom.
The stables, the stable points and all the rewards
The first thing to know is that if you have a save from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on your Switch, you will find all the horses you have captured ready and waiting for you in the stables of Tears of the Kingdom. This is a little gem designed by Nintendo's developers. In case you are taking a few steps into the kingdom of Hyrule for the first time, the stables they are facilities where it is possible to register captured horses to collect and deposit them at any time. Once you have registered a horse you can recall it to any stable, and once collected it will follow you every time you give a whistle by pressing down on the directional cross on the controller. If you are having trouble catching a horse, you can try giving it something to eat: carrots and apples are the foods they are most fond of.
A mini-mission related to the Hyrule Gazette always takes place in the stables: if you have not yet started your career as journalists, reach the Rite Village as soon as possible and, looking south, you will notice a "false stable" which is actually the headquarters of the newspaper. Many stables also host unique and often very important missions: at the Woodland Stable for example - north of central Hyrule - you can start the orchestra's mission to awaken the Radiant Fairies (who can upgrade your armor) and also start the mission relating to Toads.
Furthermore, a system has been introduced in Tears of the Kingdom Stabling Points: every time you rest at a stable by paying, when you reach it for the first time and when you register a horse, you will get a point. By accumulating three points at a time, you will have access to a series of rewards. Let's see the complete list in precise order of all the rewards for Stabling Points:

The god of horses
Ippan, il god of horses, is a very present figure in Tears of the Kingdom. When you have obtained 7 stable points, for example, you can sleep in Ippan's bed, which will provide bonuses to your statistics and allow you to receive advice on the game world. To meet him in person, however, you will have to reach the Estakkala Stable, in the northeast corner of the map. To the north of the stables there is a small lake, and in the large magical flower this very entity resides. The exact location is shown in the image above.
Once you reach Ippan, you will have to give him a Briocarota to make sure he accepts your requests. After that it basically offers two services: first it allows you to bring your horses back to life deceased, regardless of what happened; all you need to do is pay a small fee and the horse will immediately come back to life. Secondly, by cooking specific dishes requested by the deity, you will be able to enhance the statistics as you wish of all the horses you have registered. In short, if you often use horses, a visit to Ippan is mandatory.
The best and unique horses
As per tradition, Tears of the Kingdom also features a series of unique horses equipped with particular aspects and characteristics. In this section of the guide we have collected all the horses we have identified so far and the exact location in which to obtain them.
- Around Hyrule we often hear about the Great White Stallion. The location to reach to find it, in the photo above, is at the extreme south of the map, in the Lands of Firone. Follow the path past the horse god's bridge, and when you get close to the objective you will meet a couple of characters who will provide you with some additional information.
- Il Golden Horse of Zelda is the protagonist of a mini-challenge that can be obtained in the Nevaio Stable. Starting from the stables you simply have to head north to come across the horse, but be careful: the area is patrolled by a terrifying glacial Griock who can take you down with a single blow. It's not a good idea to face him at the beginning of the adventure.
- Il Ganondorf's Horse he is simply free and happy on Finterra Beach, in the exact position shown in the image above. All you have to do is reach him and be able to tame him... which is no easy feat!
- For epona, Link's historic horse can be obtained exclusively through synergy with the Amiibo that portray it, namely the one dedicated to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the one relating to Twilight Princess. All you need to do is redeem Amiibo rewards to get the horse.
- Finally there are the Skeletal Horses, which can be found quite commonly underground in Hyrule. By using them it will be possible to ride on the miasma without problems, on the other hand it is not permitted in any way to register them at a stable.
