In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sono presenti dozens of different armors, many of which bring extremely useful effects to Link's arsenal. Armor is among the best rewards you can get for exploration, for solving some puzzles, and sometimes even for completing the main mission. The elements present in the work are truly many, especially following Nintendo EPD's choice to integrate for all players even those that were once exclusive for Amiibo owners
Armor can be found in shops throughout Hyrule's hubs, hidden in forgotten chests, as prizes in treasure hunts, and even as rewards for completing some of the longest, most difficult tasks in the entire game. There are also individual pieces that bring great benefits, sets without which it is impossible to perform certain actions in the world, and robes that simply offer great defense. On this page we have collected all Tears of the Kingdom armor sets, along with their location and where to get them.

All unique armor sets and how to get them
Given the complexity and length of the topic, we won't waste too much time talking. Below you can find all unique armor sets from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, together with the place where to find them or the related mission, with an explanation of what they do and all the useful details. In the following sections, however, you will find the sets that are on sale and the individual unique pieces of armor. Let's start!
- Appearance of the Ancient Hero
This stunning complete set is the reward for having completed all 152 Shrines featured in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Once all the Shrines have been completed, the last one will display a special message, giving you the final light. At that point you will have to reach the location indicated below, i.e. the balcony of the Temple Sanctuary - right in the tutorial area - and you will find the chest that contains it. Apparently, this is the appearance depicted on the murals, and it is currently up for debate whether this is actually an ancient hero or simply the world in which the Zonau people imagined Link to appear.
- Spirit Set
This set is closely related to the Toad emblems, specifically to the mission through which you will be able to sell them to a merchant. Below you will find the link to our guide to the Toads mission, to understand where to find the Toads and this particular seller. Every certain number of Wraiths sold will reward you with a piece of this set, which leads to the loss of Rupees instead of Hearts when taking damage. Below, for convenience, we have left the position where to start the mission.
- Ghost Set
In addition to having a base armor level of 8, this set increases attack damage for each piece worn, and increases it further once the full set is worn. Below you can see the location of all three pieces.
- Set Yi
This set that increases Link's stealth is first found by doing the mission assigned by the Professor Rovely in Finterra Village, who will ask you to visit his old laboratory in the Lands of Akkala in order to unlock teleportation to the Pruna Tablet. The other pieces are found near Yiga fortresses scattered across the surface of Hyrule. The map we created, below, is very large, so patrol the areas marked in red carefully.
- Set Zonau
These ancient pieces of Zonau armor can increase the capacity of your batteries, just as food can usually temporarily increase your stats. By wearing the complete set, you gain access to two additional batteries to use however you want. Every piece of armor is hidden on a different island in the sky: usually these are islands very high up, difficult to reach, and in each of the points you find marked on the map we created you will have to solve a puzzle that unlocks access to the chest. If you can't find them, the best method is to activate the Compendium Sensor and use the photo of any chest to track them down just like you would with the Shrines.
- Climbing Set
The Climbing Armor Set increases climbing speed with each piece worn. Using the entire set at the same time, however, considerably reduces the vigor consumed to perform the classic jumps during climbing, therefore it is an extremely useful travel companion for any player. The three pieces are hidden in three caves, one in Central Hyrule and two in the Ranel Lands. In the following map you can see the exact location of the caves.
- Set Barbaro
The barbarian armor set, like the climbing set, is part of the Lambda Treasures, and also in this case it is found in caves scattered around the central area of Hyrule. This set reduces the stamina consumption and charge time of charged attacks, making it perfect for increasing the damage of heavy weapons. Below, as usual, you will find the entrance area of all the caves.
- Set Gomma
Here we are with another Lambda Treasure, a set of rubber armor that is consequently fully insulating. It negates electrical damage for each piece worn and makes you completely immune to lightning when equipping the complete set, making it an excellent tool for dealing with the fearsome electrical Griocks. Below we have reported the location of all three caves.
- Miner Set
The miner's armor emits light for each piece worn, granting a sort of large luminescent aura once all the pieces have been acquired. Its functioning, however, is not clear, in the sense that we found it in the positions reported below, but it is possible that the pieces reside in the first three chests that are encountered while exploring the underground. As soon as we have certain news we will return to you, in the meantime we will leave you the map of the underground: marked in yellow is the central mine, which you can use as a reference to orient yourself.
- Evil Spirit Set
This armor set, belonging to Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time, stands out for its high defense, cape and ability to increase stealth. To obtain it you need to complete three quests spread across the three corners of the world, namely labyrinth-related missions. There are three labyrinths in the game world: Akkala, in the far north-east, Gerudo, in the far south-west, and Oldin, in the far north. Each labyrinth consists of a structure at ground level and one above, between the floating islands. First you have to complete the labyrinth on the ground, then you have to reach the one in the sky.
Reaching the floating labyrinths is not easy, and the only way is to use vehicles, because getting there normally is almost impossible. Once the floating labyrinths have also been resolved, a chasm will open in the center of the ground labyrinths in which you can face an Armored Golemax, who once defeated will reward you with a piece of armour. We'll give you just a couple of tips: firstly, to solve the mazes you just need to enter from the main entrance and follow the trails of acorns sown by the explorers; therefore you absolutely must not collect the acorns, or you risk getting lost. The Gerudo maze, specifically, has an underground section, so you won't be able to "break" it simply by reaching the top and looking down. For the mazes in the sky the story is different: you will always be able to notice the terminals to activate on the mini-map, which will make reaching them very simple; you just need to look for them small black bars placed in correspondence with the brownish sections of the map.
- Set of Embers
This very situational armor set considerably increases Link's damage in hot weather, making it an excellent ally for exploring the Gerudo Desert and especially Mount Death. Otherwise, however, it is not of great use, because it cannot protect against heat. Below you will find the location of each piece, keeping in mind that they are all scattered in caves near the edge of Mount Death.
- Set da Planeta
This three-piece armor set considerably improves Link's aerial control, especially when entering free fall mode. Each piece is linked to a speed challenge which is proposed to you by a Zonau Golem on certain islands in the sky. Obviously below you will find the location of the three specific islands, but know that to obtain the armor you will have to complete the test, and that to be able to take part in it it is necessary to offer a charge of Zonau energy.
- Royal Guard Set
This set has no purpose other than to let you play as Hyrule's royal guard soldiers. All the pieces are found in Hyrule Castle, so to be able to get it you must have gained access to this place. The pieces are very well hidden: one is found in Zelda's room, one is found behind a library bookcase to be moved with Ultramano, while the last one I admit that I don't remember which room it is in, but fortunately I marked the location on the map.
- Tingle set
The tunic of the most beautiful "fairy" of Termina and the oceans of The Wind Waker also returns in Tears of the Kingdom, scattered in three caves located in the southern area of the game world. By wearing the complete set, Link's speed will be doubled during the night.
- Vengeful Deity Set
The Furious Deity armor taken directly from Majora's Mask will probably be the first treasure hunt you come across. This is a very strong armor, which increases the damage dealt with each piece worn and further increases it when using the complete set. The mission to obtain it starts just north of the Stallage at the base of Mount Death, arriving from the south of the mountain. You will have to recover the three pieces scattered around the game world, and by taking them all you will also get one unique greatsword. The three pieces are found in Death's Head Pond, Akkala, the Thousand-Year Tree, Central Hyrule, and in a dungeon atop Akkala Fortress. Below you can find the locations marked on the map.
- Dark Link Set
The Dark Link robe is one reward relating to the Poos and especially the Witch Statues who hide in the underground of Hyrule. The set has excellent defenses and increases Link's speed in the dark, while if you want more information on how to unlock it we recommend you visit our guide to Poos and Witch Statues. In the photo below we will leave the location of the first Witch Statue, which is located right in the Hyrule Guard Fort, but it will not interact with you until you show it at least one Poo.
- Set of Darkness
The Darkness Set is the main reward for the Poos and Witch Statues quest. Once you've found four statues, this miasma-resistant armor will go straight into the inventory of these particular underground-bound merchants. For further information, please refer to the guide to the Poos and Witch Statues. Below you can see the first, with which it will be possible to locate the others.
- Amphibian Set
This armor set allows Link to climb slippery surfaces, effectively negating the effects of rain on rock walls. By wearing the entire set it becomes possible to climb any type of terrain. Obtaining this particular suit is linked to the completion of the missions of the Gazzetta Quadrifoglia. After visiting the headquarters, which you can see in the image below, you will have to complete a secondary mission in each of the 15 stables present in Hyrule. - Soldier Set
This very resistant armor is located exactly below the Hyrule Guard Keep. By entering the emergency shelter in the center of the square, in front of the girl who is cleaning the room, it is possible to move a couple of boulders to reveal the entrance to the very long secret passage that leads to Hyrule Castle. In the underground tunnels, in various prisons all three pieces of the armor are hidden. All you have to do is enter the tunnels and destroy all the collapsed boulders to reveal the rooms that house the various pieces.
- Lightning Set
This particular set - which increases attack in the heart of the storm - It's part of the main mission, so we advise you to avoid continuing in case you want to avoid any kind of spoiler. This is the penultimate warning... and this was the last warning. To obtain this armor it is necessary to enter the Lands of Firone and solve the riddles of the Zonau with the help of Tauro, the researcher from Calbarico. At the foot of the dragon statues with the longest neck there is the entrance to three small alcoves which house the chests with each piece of the set. In the following image we have indicated the position where to start the search for dragon heads. The set greatly increases attack power during lightning storms.
- Awakening Set
The Link's Awakening Link set is found in three pieces scattered across the central western area of Hyrule. Like most of these sets, it does not bring any particular benefits.
- Set of the Heavens
The Skyward Sword Link set is found in three pieces scattered throughout Hyrule's underground. As a small part of these sets, it increases attack damage.
- Time Set
The Ocarina of Time Link set is found in three pieces scattered throughout Hyrule's underground. As a small part of these sets, it increases attack damage.
- Twilight set
The Twilight Princess Link set is found in three pieces scattered throughout Hyrule's underground. As a small part of these sets, it increases attack damage.
- Wild Set
This armor set, in Breath of the Wild, was originally obtained by completing all 120 Shrines present in the work. In this case, the pieces are hidden under the giant fossils protagonists of the respective secondary mission. Below you can find an underground map with the exact locations. We had to reduce the zoom of the underground map to the minimum to be able to fit them all into the same image.
- Set of the Winds
The Wind Waker Link set can be found in three pieces scattered throughout Hyrule's underground. Like most of these sets, it does not bring any particular benefits.
- Hero Set
We close this collection of unique armor with the Hero's set, which recalls the legendary tunic of the first Link from 1986. The pieces can also be found scattered throughout the entire underground of Hyrule.
Armor sets for sale
Alongside the unique sets that dot the regions of Hyrule, there are other armor sets that are simply found for sale on the merchants' stalls in the main settlements of the work. In this section we will analyze them providing important additional information.
- Seven of the Desert
This set protects from the extreme heat of the Gerudo Desert, provides a unique hairstyle, and is for sale in two places: one piece at a time is sold in the Gerudo Desert bazaar, while the complete set can be purchased for just over 4200 Rupees in the dungeons of the Gerudo Citadel.
- Fireproof Set
This uncomfortable and heavy set is only on sale in the City of Gorons, and is the only method to properly protect yourself from the hottest caves. Wearing the complete set is the only way to explore the underground of Mount Death, also becoming immune to fire damage.
- Set Hylia
The Hylia set represents a very versatile armor that can be purchased cheaply at the Hyrule Guard Keep, right from the beginning of the adventure. There is a hidden peculiarity in this set: there is a variant with the hood down. To lower the hood you need to complete the very long side quest of the Finterra village clothing shop. Once the elections are held, the owner of Finterra's clothing store - a famous fashion designer - will offer the option to lower the hood of the armor.
- Rite Set
This set is on sale at Borgo dei Rito and represents the best way to protect Link from the extreme cold. By wearing the complete set the protagonist also becomes immune to any freezing effect.
- Set Sheikah
The Sheikah set has a dual effect: it increases Link's speed during the night and increases the protagonist's stealth. On sale at the Calbarico Village, if purchased in full it also provides a unique fabric for the parasail, with the large Sheikah eye represented on the canvas.
- Zora set
A piece of the Zora set, the breastplate, will be automatically added to your inventory during the main mission, in order to allow you to go up the waterfalls. The other elements are found following secondary missions, so it is not exactly an armor to be acquired in shops, despite this you will only need to carefully follow the instructions of the consort of Sidon to easily find all the pieces.
Single pieces: the true rarities
Alongside the complete sets, there are some particular objects that appeal to the most knowledgeable treasure hunters. These instruments present in single copies represent the ultimate in rarity in Tears of the Kingdom.
- Majora's Mask
Directly from the chapter of the same name, that mask returns which probably represents the most dangerous object in the entire Zelda universe. This piece of equipment, despite its poor defenses, will cripple most enemies, rendering them unable to attack you. To recover it it is necessary to defeat the Lynel horde that resides in the underground arena, visible in the next image. It will be necessary to kill 4 Miasmatic Lynels of increasing difficulty in order to conquer it.
- Elmo di None
The Helm of Midna offers great physical defenses and boasts very high resistance to miasma. In order to obtain this Twilight Princess relic it is necessary to reach the Island of Terrafinita, off the coast of Vappesca Village to the south east. You will have to reach the chasm in the northern area of the island, marked in the image below, and throw yourself underground; by completing the arena that awaits you you will obtain this helmet.
- Champion's Tunic and Hylian Shield
The Champion's Robe and Hylian Shield are two extremely strong unique items hidden in Hyrule Castle. We have created a guide dedicated to collecting these objects, since it is not simply a matter of going there and taking possession of them.
- Monster Masks
The masks of the various monsters that populate Hyrule allow you to blend in perfectly with each other. To obtain it it is necessary to actively dedicate yourself to collecting the Toads, and then reach the seller who deals with these particular objects; you can easily spot his strange hot air balloon next to the Stallaggio del Bosco, in the image below.
- Sagono hat
This hat is just... beautiful. Sagono, the stylist of the Finterra Village, is the key to opening a Pandora's box of optional missions linked to this small farming village; the game is worth the candle? Maybe, in the meantime we leave you the image of the place where to start the quest chain.
