Final Fantasy 16, how to get the best weapons and equipment

The guide to getting the Ragnarok sword, the Gotterdammerung and all the best equipment that can be found in Final Fantasy 16.

Even if Final Fantasy 16 has left behind much of its RPG soul, dedicating itself to the new action-oriented nature, some light elements have survived this transition, although it is difficult to say that it is capable of bringing a concrete impact on the gameplay. In the old chapters of the saga, the search for legendary weapons and equipment occupied a vast portion of what was called the endgame, while Final Fantasy 16 decided to profoundly change this particular architecture too.

La search for the best weapons and equipment in Final Fantasy 16 it is therefore something very different from what long-time fans were used to, decidedly more rooted in the narrative and difficult to miss along the way. Let's be clear: it is very difficult not to come across these tools for players who aim to carry out all the activities in the game.

That said, it could still escape those who do not attempt to complete the adventure 100%, perhaps dodging the weight of the multitude of secondary missions that punctuate the progress of the plot. On this page we see how to get the best swords and accessories for Clive, in order to transform him into the perfect warrior in the shortest possible time.

The blacksmith Blackthorne

The missions to obtain the final weapons for Clive are all linked to the blacksmith Blackthorne, and specifically orbit around the chain of secondary quests called "Blacksmith Problems". These are four missions preparatory to each other which begin with a request from August, Cursebreaker present in the refuge; he will ask you to investigate why the blacksmith is sad, and you will discover that the reason lies in a particular armor that disturbs him. The initial mission of the chain only becomes available following the completion of the assault on Dragon's Head together with Jill, immediately after the main mission Looming Storm.

Once you have completed the first mission, you must keep an eye on Clive's desk until you find a letter sent by August, once again worried about the blacksmith's mental state. Finally, the last two phases of the secondary mission will become available following the completion of the Dhalmekia region, after you have left in the direction of the Crystalline Domain. Following Blackthorne's quests, it is essential that you have unlocked the settlement of Dravozd, in the Dhalmekia region, where the last acts of the chain will take place.

The Gotterdammerung

Once Blackthorne and Zoltan are reunited, after completing "Blacksmith's Troubles IV", you will obtain the Ragnarok sword, but the two craftsmen will tell you that it is possible to upgrade it further. At that point, the recipe for building the Gotterdammerung, the strongest sword that you can obtain during your first run, will appear in Blackthorne's inventory. Below we see the necessary materials and above all where to find them:

  1. orichalcum, multiple pieces - Reward for defeating S-Rank wanted men Atlas, Svarog, Gorgimera, and King Behemot.
  2. Blacksteel, multiple pieces - Reward for defeating A-Rank Wanted Thanatos and Prince of Death.
  3. Primitive battle horn - Reward for defeating A-Rank Wanted Gobermouch

Once you reach Final Fantasy Mode, you will start with an item in your inventory called Statement of Creation. Once you reach the final stages of the game you can use it to create the Ultimate Weapon, which is only available in this special mode.

The best accessories and legendary accessories

I guanti di Genji

There are several accessories worth mentioning in this selection. Instead of limiting ourselves to dealing with the legendary tools, i.e. those which are traditionally marked in yellow, we will expand the list with those which, according to our experience with Final Fantasy Mode, represent the best choices to also deal with the post-game offer. Please note that in Final Fantasy Mode, there will be +1 versions of any unique item. For example, Caval's Fang that increases Torgal's damage has a +1 version that increases it significantly.

  • Berserker Ring: This ring is obtained by raising Clive's reputation to 85, and is a reward that can be redeemed directly at the refuge counter, next to the Moogle. It allows you to increase the damage after each perfect dodge and also modifies the animations of Clive's attacks, giving each successful dodge a small bullet-time.
  • Guanti di Genji: The Gloves of Genji are also obtained by increasing Clive's reputation, but this time up to 2365. This means that you will have to complete all the hunts and all the secondary missions of the work before getting your hands on this object which provides a 5% extra damage to any damage source.
  • Ouroboros: Ouroboros is the strongest belt in the game, and can be crafted after completing "Blacksmith's Trouble 3" for Blackthorne. To build it you will need 1 Orichalcum (S Rank wanted), a Comet Feather dropped by the wanted Infernal Comet, and a Stone Tongue dropped by Agni; for the position of each of them you can consult our specific guide.
  • Sons of Ouroboros: There is also a version in the form of Ouroboros Bracers, which can be crafted with 1 Orichalcum, a Molboro Flower dropped by the wanted Carrot and the unique item dropped by the S-Rank wanted Pandemonium. For these too you can consult the guide you find above. Unlike the belt, they will automatically become available for crafting as you continue the main quest.
  • The golden testament: Sold by Charon at the shelter, increases the Gil earned from each encounter.
  • The consequences of the war: Sold by Charon at the shelter, increases skill points gained from battles by 20%. When worn to take down Red and Blue Chocobos, it is the best way to earn skill points quickly.
  • Geto of the dire wolf: This reward for reaching 295 reputation increases combo damage by 5%. It may not seem like much, but in the hands of an expert player it exponentially increases the damage inflicted on enemies thanks to the simultaneous increase in the combo multiplier.
  • The ones you want: Seriously, whatever you want. The best accessories are those that reduce the cooldown of skills, and you would do well to always equip at least one accessory dedicated to the skills you use most during combat.
