Despite the very dry RPG component and the proximity to the action genre, Final Fantasy 16 has kept some activities to deal with after the end of the game. The main challenge present in the work is in fact embodied by the Chronolites, special stones scattered in remote places on the open maps that place the player in front of a challenge of mastery relating to each individual Eikon. Given the size and above all the emptiness of the maps, it is very difficult to locate them all.
In this guide we have collected the exact location of all the Cronoliths present in Final Fantasy 16, also indicating the precise directions to reach them. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind before starting to look for them: the Chronolites will not be active from the beginning of the adventure, but will only light up after you have obtained a certain amount of Eikon. The first one you will be able to face is in fact that of Garuda, who will only be available following the completion of the entire Velkroy desert region. Only then can you face the challenges.
To find out how to deal with them easily, we recommend that you consult our dedicated guide that you can find in the complete Final Fantasy 16 guide.
Cronoliths of Rosaria
The Chronolith relating to Fenice it is the only one found in the Rosaria region, and the location is exactly in the marshes above Martha's Refuge. This Cronolith, however, only activates later in the adventure, so you will have to wait a while before you can face it, even if it will be the first to become physically accessible in the game world.
Chronolites of Sanbreque
The first Cronolith of Sanbreque is located exactly at the end of the path that leads to Caer Norvent; as you go through the plot you will stop long before the end of the road, and the developers have specifically placed this limit to prevent you from running into the Chronolith. Reaching the dead end at the end of the path you will come across the Chronolith of Ramuh.
The second Chronolith, or the one dedicated to Bahamut, is located exactly in the most north-eastern corner of the cliffs that stand out beyond Piana Nord. Be careful because along the way there will also be a Grade A Hunt that could put you in difficulty, depending on the level you are at. We also remind you in this case that the Chronolith is not activated until you have obtained the powers of the respective Eikon.
Chronolites of Dhalmekia
At the northern end of the Velkroy Desert is a small abandoned village that serves as a gate to the northern part of the map, easily recognizable due to the sandstorm that constantly envelops it. This is the first Chronolith you will be able to come across in this region, however for plot reasons it will not be possible to activate it until you have tied up all the loose ends in the Republic of Dhalmekia, given that the Eikon in question is Titan.
Probably, that of Garuda it is the first Cronolito ever that you will be able to face. The area in which it is located, however, is not available for exploration until you set off towards the Crystalline Domain; the closed roads in the southern area of Velkroy will suddenly open, letting you explore the canyon of the fallen that houses the Cronolith. This is undoubtedly the best proof of Eikon mastery to start with.
Waloed Chronolites
The Chronolith of Shiva it lies on the edge of an isolated ravine in the far north-west of Waloed, just before the fortified capital. As soon as you have access to this section of the region you will immediately be able to face the challenge dedicated to the ice queen.
The last Chronolith present in the game, the one dedicated to Odin, is located in a small cove visible directly from the map in the heart of the Furious Rift, right in the center of the Waloed region. Find access to the southern area to easily reach the Cronolith. The first time you pass through here you will not yet have access to the Eikon, so all you have to do is face the next main dungeon and then go back and unlock the mastery challenge.
