With version 3.6 of Genshin impact, finally baizhu has joined the cast of playable characters of the Hoyoverse action RPG. In this guide we will give an overview of his skills and what, in our opinion, they are better builds in terms of weapons, artifacts and teams.

Baizhu is a 5-star Dendro-type character who uses catalysts. He specializes inprovide care to the entire team and his kit also includes shields and bonuses to elemental reactions, all characteristics that make him a rather useful and versatile healer, who adapts very well to many types of different formations based on Dendro elemental reactions.

Skill Overview and Talent Priorities

As we said at the beginning, Baizhu specializes in providing care. His elemental ability launches a sort of spiritual snake that attacks nearby enemies three times and then returns to the sender, restoring the health points of all party members in proportion to their HP. In itself this attack doesn't have a bad offensive scaling, but since ATK is not the main stat to focus on for this character don't expect particularly high damage.

The highlight of Baizhu's kit however is his elemental riot, as it gives the team more of an advantage. At the cost of 80 energy points, this ability lasts 14 seconds and for its entire duration creates an "absolute shield" every 2,5 seconds (so six in total). When a shield runs out or is destroyed, it attacks nearby opponents (with a rather reduced AoE) and the active character's health points are restored.

In reality the shields of Baizhu really have nothing "absolute" as the name would suggest: their resistance is in fact very low and they can only protect from one, maximum two, opponent attacks. That said, they are still useful for avoiding knockback interrupts and offering extra protection to fragile characters, as well as restoring large amounts of health points over time. Furthermore, the duration of the skill goes well with all those DPS who remain on the field for a long time, such as Alhaitham and Cyno.

To the aforementioned effects, then, is added that of the passive talent "Everything originates from the Earth", one of Baizhu's strong points: the character on the field who is healed by the elemental blaze obtains a Damage bonus for elemental reactions Dendro by 2% (0,8% for Accentuation and Propagation) for every 1.000 HP Baizhu has, up to a maximum of 50.000. The other passive skill instead increases the healing bonuses by 20% if the active character has less than 50%. Otherwise, Baizhu's Dendro damage is boosted by 25%.

If as a healer and support character Baizhu really has nothing to envy to the rest of the Genshin Impact cast, his offensive potential is limited by the fact that all his skills scale on ATK. In fact, we suggest that you neglect this attribute in favor of HP, not so much to increase the total healing, which is already very high in itself, but to make the most of the passive bonus of "Everything originates from the Earth" to increase the damage of elemental reactions of the team. In that sense, fortunately the bonus stat for Baizhu's ascension increases 28,80% i PS at level 90. In addition to HP, as we will see later, large investments are also needed in terms of Energy Recharge to ensure that he uses his elemental riot at every rotation.

Furthermore, Baizhu does not particularly stand out even forapplication of the Dendro element on opponents, as the number of skill and elemental riot attacks is limited and they hit single targets in most cases. This means that Baizhu cannot fill the role of the only Dendro character in a team based on the elemental reactions of this element (except perhaps for Accentuation and Propagation) and therefore we suggest you pair him with sub-DPS such as Nahida and the Traveler or a main DPS such as Tighnari and Alhaitham.

With regard to the talent development priority of Baizhu, the ideal in our opinion is to focus in particular on the elemental riot, followed by the elemental ability. However, standard attacks are negligible.

Artifacts and statistics

Considering what was said above, in our opinion the better set of artifacts to be assigned to Baizhu is made up of four pieces from Memories of Boscoprondo. The 15% Dendro damage bonus is useful but negligible, while the reduction of opponents' Dendro damage resistance by 30% is certainly more interesting, a more than useful effect for maximizing the team's damage.

Le alternative in our opinion they are less fascinating, but still worthy of being mentioned. Four pieces of Ocean Mollusc increase Baizhu's healing and deal non-elemental damage at three-second intervals in proportion to the amount of HP restored, which goes well with this character's kit. If you prefer a well-rounded support character, the Noblesse Oblige set might be right for you, which boosts the entire team's Attack by 20% for 12 seconds.

With regard to main statistics for artifacts, we first recommend that you meet the energy requirements necessary to be able to use the blaze on each rotation. In general, we are talking about at least 220% Energy Recharge if Baizhu is the only Dendro character on the team and at least 180% if there are two or more. Reaching this figure is not very easy and therefore for this reason we suggest Ricarica di Energia for the "sands". If, however, you are using a weapon that increases this attribute and/or have excellent secondary statistics, the choice falls on HP%. The same attribute is also recommended for "chalice" and "crown", given that the objective is to increase Baizhu's health points as much as possible to enhance the effects of the passive talent "everything originates from the earth".

Moving on to secondary statistics, in addition to the aforementioned Energy Recharge and HP%, we suggest you invest above all in Elemental Mastery to enhance the damage of the Dendro-based reactions triggered by Baizhu. ATK%, CRIT/damage rate are a welcome but not essential bonus, given that we are talking about a support character.

The best weapons for Baizhu

As for the best weapons for Baizhu, the choice falls on Splendor of the Jadiluvium, a 5-star catalyst with bonuses made specifically for this character. In addition to increasing Max HP by nearly 50%, this weapon restores Baizhu's energy upon activating Elemental Blaze and whenever he creates a shield (even when not on the battlefield), and boosts Elemental Damage in proportion to Max HP , up to a maximum of 12%.

That said, there are much more accessible alternatives to 4 stars for Baizhu which are still very valid. Among these we recommend the Favonius Code which increases the Energy Recharge statistic up to 45,9% and generates particles with critical attacks, bonuses that help a lot to meet the energy requirements of this character; then we have the craftable Amber Prototype weapon, which in addition to increasing Baizhu's maximum HP regenerates up to 18 energy points and heals up to 18% of the team's HP after using an elemental riot.

Finally we have the "Epic exploits of the Dragon Slayers", a prodigious and very easy to upgrade 3-star catalyst, which increases maximum HP and grants up to 48% bonus ATK to the character you field after Baizhu.

As explained in this in-depth analysis, Baizhu is an excellent healer and support character, particularly suitable for teams that exploit the Dendro, thanks to his passive talent which enhances reactions based on this element, and which you can use in many different formations. Furthermore, the duration and the mini-shields bestowed by his elemental riot lend themselves very well to characters who remain on the field for a long time and who suffer the reactions of opposing attacks, such as Cyno, Tighnari and Alhaitham. In our opinion, however, he cannot optimally fill the role of the only Dendro character on the team, so we recommend placing him alongside another unit that takes advantage of this element.
