Returned from Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Nargacuga is one of the favorite monsters of longtime gamers. Fast as the wind, its onyx black coat and deep red eyes have become an iconic symbol for the brand. Capcom, enough to make it one of the most desired returns by hunters of Monster Hunter World.
Thanks to Iceborne, the Nargacuga returns to the game's forests, hiding in the shadows until we gather the courage to challenge him.
Nature of the Nargacuga
The Nargacuga is a Flying Wyvern with such a sharp fur that it can be used as a real weapon. As agile as an overgrown panther, this monster bet everything on surprising your opponent through quick attacks and the use of every part of his body.
In addition to the standard physical attacks, the Nargacuga is able to throw the quills present on the tip of its tail, fly short distances and perform jumps of considerable amplitude. Its wings have extremely leathery, almost metallic formations, and therefore are the perfect tool to cut through the most defenseless prey. Likewise they represent a defense against side attacks.
The Nargacuga is quite territorial, but if found out in the open he prefers retreat rather than a head-on collision. Ambushes and traps are the order of the day for this species, naturally preferring dark places with dense vegetation.
Strategia
The Nargacuga does not possess any special elements in its attacks, making it the Physical Defense the only defensive parameter to be taken into account. The attacks of this wyvern are fairly standard when analyzing the close approach, mainly consisting of spins, bites and paws. Many of the quicker attacks won't have the strength to throw you away despite the sustained damage, so use this resistance to deliver the strongest hits. Hunters armed with heavy weapons such as the Hammer and the Greatsword will be the most disadvantaged during this fight, considering the speed of the monster.
Fortunately though, iThe Nargacuga has many openings to exploit. Most of the time, this Wyvern will do a mid-air somersault to hit its enemy with the tip of its tail. However, having spikes on its extremities, it will get stuck in the ground for a long enough time to be able to deal a lot 'of blows, perhaps trying to cut off the appendix. Dodging these fairly obvious attacks will be crucial to having a much easier fight.
When it leaps away and distances you, it will try to hit you with a shower of quills thrown from its tail. Surely distance players will have to work hard to follow the rapid movements of the monster, while the slower and more armored ones will have to play on defense and counterattack. The Nargacuga also does not charge its prey, it prefers to jump on him in a few moments and then run away, which makes it a bit difficult to be able to counterattack him during his leaps.
Taking care to always keep the camera pointed at him, the fight will not put you too much to the test. Overcoming it, moreover, you will get a nice set based entirely on stealth, which could be useful for all those hunters able to take advantage of the surprise shots and the cloaks dedicated to them.
