Facebook announced the integration of Messenger chat with Instagram direct messages. Yet another step towards that process, wanted by Mark Zuckerberg, of unification of the three popular platforms: Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The news had already been anticipated by the developer Alessandro Paluzzi, but now the confirmation comes directly from Menlo Park.
The feature comes in the form of an update that will be released in some countries (we don't know which ones) and then be available globally. After the update, it will be possible send messages from Instagram to contacts on Facebook Messenger and vice versa. In fact, this is Mark Zuckerberg's project: to offer the possibility of sending messages between the different platforms without the need to be subscribed to all of them. In other words, an Instagram account could send a message to a Facebook account not subscribed to Instagram.
The user will still have the possibility of not enabling the function and thus not access the unified system. In the release issued by the company, we read that the goal is to offer users "better messaging experience, regardless of the app they use". It will be possible to select where to receive messages and calls (in chats or message requests) or not to receive them at all. To protect privacy, Facebook emphasizes that accounts on both platforms can be blocked to avoid receiving unwanted messages and calls.
This is just the beginning of Zuckerberg's ambitious and complex plan. In fact, the announcement ends by suggesting the arrival in the future of "new ways to connect". Thought can only go to WhatsApp and the possible integration with other platforms.
