It is now clear that Facebook is always trying to take inspiration from other platforms that are gradually emerging and taking shape, with the aim of integrating new features or presenting new services capable of attracting a greater number of users and not losing those who are already registered. to the social network.
According to some news leaked in these hours, the American company would have targeted a particular social that has caused a lot of hype in recent days, we are talking about Clubhouse, a platform that it is good to remember is accessible by users only through an invitation.
Well, it seems that the giant of social networks Facebook is planning a tool very similar to Clubhouse, which should still be in an embryonic stage according to reports from two insiders who have shared some particular information with the New York Times.
For those who don't know it yet, Clubhouse is basically an app, currently only available on iOS, which allows people to gather in a sort of virtual audio room and be able to discuss a range of topics, to which more recently have been added talk shows conducted by show business personalities, networking events and even theater performances.
Clubhouse was officially launched in April last year by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth belonging to Alpha Exploration Co. based in Salt Lake City and which currently has two million weekly users.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself had the opportunity to try out the Clubhouse features, surprisingly accessing one of the virtual rooms to address some topical issues such as augmented reality and the technology behind its development. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk also pushed a lot on the Clubhouse theme, later joining it too, a bit like what happened previously with Signal.
In response to reports from the New York Times about the development of a similar app, Facebook spokeswoman Emiliee Haskell, while not openly denying the attention paid in recent weeks towards this kind of app and the desire to integrate a service similar to the internal Facebook, did not want to provide further details on the affair, stating only: "We have allowed people to connect with each other for years through audio and video technologies and now we are constantly looking for new ways to improve the possibilities of connection between people".
Facebook has already in the past taken a cue from other platforms to add features related to its social network and even in this case it is possible to imagine that some new similar function, in the Clubhouse style, may arrive on the social network perhaps by the end of the year. Instagram, also owned by Facebook, for example, added the Stories in 2016 by borrowing them from Snapchat and then adding the Reels, already seen on TikTok last year.
We will therefore see if something very similar to what we saw on Clubhouse will arrive in these months or if the tests are not successful and Facebook will decide not to introduce anything new about it.
