In addition to collecting trinkets to resell at the merchant and the challenges of the shooting range, Resident Evil 4 Remake proposes another optional activity, that of finding and destroying all sixteen Castellani Meccanici, dolls with the features of Ramon Salazar hidden in the settings. By completing this small task you will get the "Mechanical Revolution" Trophy, as well as a bonus item, the Unbreakable knife, which as the name suggests is a combat blade that never breaks and therefore particularly useful for higher difficulty playthroughs.
However, identifying the Mechanical Castellans is not very simple, as like the small keys they are not marked on the Merchant's treasure map, and furthermore they are well hidden in the environments, with the only clue offered being their characteristic mechanical creaking. But don't worry, below you will find the necessary information to find all the Mechanical Castellans and thus obtain the unbreakable knife. Keep in mind that some mechanical dolls are only found in specific portions of the game and so if you miss them you will have to start a new game.
Where to find all the Mechanical Castellans in the Village
#1 - You will be able to destroy the first Clockwork Castellan towards the end of the Chapter 1. To be precise, the doll is located in the first house you will encounter as soon as you arrive at the Lake Colony. Once you have eliminated all the enemies nearby, enter the building through the window and look towards the roof to find the Mechanical Castellan.
The first time you arrive in this area you probably won't even know about the existence of the Clockwork Castlemen (which will be revealed to you by a document you will find later) so maybe you missed this Clockwork Castleman. Fortunately, you can recover it at a later time, to be precise during Chapter 4, when you can revisit this and other areas of the Village.
#2 - The next Clockwork Castellan is found in Chapter 2. After obtaining the hex key in the Valley and unlocking the mechanism near the Abandoned Factory, continue towards the next main objective, until you find a small shed on the left. Inside you will find a note that talks about the existence of these annoying mechanical dolls and on the opposite side of the shack you will find the Mechanical Castellan. Again, if you missed it, you can get it before unlocking the church door in Chapter 4.
#3 - You will find another Clockwork Castellan in the Chapter 3, in the Mercante area with the shooting range, after the Quarry. To the left of the shopkeeper you will see a ladder leading to the dock on the lower level. Go down and you will find the doll on top of a chest on the right. If you missed it, you can recover it within Chapter 4, before using the key to open the gates of the Church.
#4 - The fourth Mechanical Castellan is found in Chapter 4, in the optional Altar in the Forest area, which you can visit by returning to the Lake Colony by boat. Use the key with the emblem to unlock the locked lock to the north of this area and continue straight until you reach an open space where you will find some corpses and a sacrificial altar. The mechanical doll is beyond the wooden fence, on the ground in the grass. You can only recover it by the end of this chapter, before using the key to open the gates of the Church.
#5 - The next Clockwork Castellan is found in Chapter 5, in the attic of the Villa del Capovillaggio, previously unreachable. Now that you have Ashley with you, head to the landlord's bedroom and, if you haven't done so previously, activate the mechanism hidden behind one of the paintings to make a ladder appear. Have Ashley climb up and lower the ladder for you. Once in the attic you will find the Mechanical Castellan among some junk.
#6 - You will be able to destroy the last Mechanical Castellan of the Village exclusively in Chapter 6. After escaping the villa you will have to overcome a fortified area full of enemies. Once you have defeated everyone, continue until you see a large bonfire on the right: at its base there is the mechanical doll.
Where to find all the Castle Mechanical Castellans
#7 - You will find the first Castle Mechanical Castellan in Chapter 7. After defeating your first Garrador (the sightless enemy with metal claws), reunite with Ashley and advance until you reach a storage room. The doll is found on top of a shelf in the center of this room. If you missed it, you can recover this Clockwork Castellan later, but only within Chapter 12, before taking the elevator to the top of the Clock Tower.
#8 - The next Clockwork Castleman is located atop one of the bastions in the outer area of the Castle, an area you will visit during the Chapter 8. Immediately after seeing the short cutscene that opens the boss fight in this area, head immediately to the right and drop down. Continue to the right and climb the ladder, all while trying to avoid getting hit. Once at the top of the tower, you will see some crates, the doll is on the opposite side, so you will have to go all the way around to reach it. If you want, you can also recover this Mechanical Castellan at a later time and with complete peace of mind after defeating the boss. Remember, however, that you can only do this within Chapter 12, before taking the elevator to the top of the Clock Tower.
#9 - The next Mechanical Castellan is located in Chapter 9, in the labyrinth of the Courtyard. The doll is among some junk, next to a Medical Spray. Considering the complexity of the area, you can rely on the map below to locate it. If you missed it, you can recover this Clockwork Castellan later, but only within Chapter 12, before taking the elevator to the top of the Clock Tower.
#10 - The tenth Mechanical Castellan of Resident Evil 4 Remake is found in the Chapter 10, in the Depths. It's behind the metal grate on the opposite side of the Local Merchant. Aim towards the top and you will see the doll hanging upside down. Be careful, you can only recover this Mechanical Castellan in this chapter. After taking the elevator just ahead you will no longer be able to go back.
#11 - The next Clockwork Castellan is another of those that you can destroy only in a specific section of the game, to be precise in Chapter 11, after a double boss fight. Advance and there will be a section where you will ride a mine cart. Once you get off you will find yourself in the Rest Point area. Enter the building in the center, the doll is above one of the doors.
#12 - The last Mechanical Castellan of the Castle is found in Chapter 12, at the base of the Clock Tower. Be careful: once the elevator is activated you will no longer be able to recover this and the other dolls located in this macro-area. After defeating all the enemies, return to the ground floor, you will find the Clockwork Castellan on top of a chest to the left of the feet of Salazar's statue.

#13 - You will be able to destroy the first Mechanical Castellan on the Island during the Chapter 13. After defeating your first Gandos armed with a rocket launcher, advance until you reach a space with some containers, a large metal door and some enemies. Once eliminated you will find the doll behind the truck in the area.
#14 - this Mechanical Castellan is found in Chapter 14. After a cutscene inside the Amber Deposit, continue until you find yourself near a military camp. At the top of this area is a command room, with some destructible crates. The doll is located on top of some metal cabinets.
#15: the penultimate Clockwork Castellan of Resident Evil 4 Remake is found in the Chapter 15 after a cutscene followed by a fight with some Novistador (flying insectoid creatures). Continue and enter the next building, the Specimen Storage. Take out the Regeneradors inside and then enter the small room to the north. The doll sits on top of a wooden beam.
#16 - the last Clockwork Castellan of Resident Evil 4 Remake is found in Chapter 16, during the countdown following the final boss fight. Continue until you are grabbed by a Ganados. The doll is in this room, on top of some crates on the right. Don't pay attention to the enemies on the ground, they are harmless, but watch out for the timer!
If you have followed our instructions at this point you will unlock the "Mechanical Revolution" trophy / achievement and you will also get the bonus weapon Unbreakable knife, which you can use in all subsequent playthroughs of Resident Evil 4 Remake.
