How to Delete G Button on Android Gboard Keyboard

If you use the Google Android App called as an Android keyboard Gboard, you will surely have noticed the Google button (G) positioned in a bar above the keyboard itself.
Through the G button on the Gboard you can search with the Google search engine directly from the keyboard and share the result with the App on which you are typing with the keyboard.

However, due to the position in which it is located, while typing with the keyboard it may happen that you press it involuntarily, activating the quick search form.
If this happens to you often, the best solution is to deactivate the G icon on the Gboard.

When you activate the Android keyboard, for example when you need to write to someone on WhatsApp, Google's Android Gboard keyboard will appear where the G icon will be present:

  1. press on G button, the Google quick search form will open.
  2. In the bar below the search form there will be various icons, press the one settings (depicted by a gear wheel)

In the screen that appears, go to Research and deactivate the option Show “G” button by pressing the "button" indicated in the photo:

Once this is done, going back to the App where you were writing, you will notice that the G icon is no longer displayed and in its place there is an arrow.

By pressing on this arrow it is possible to view the items as they were previously listed, among these there is the icon with the magnifying glass which activates the quick Google search just as the G icon did.


Even though the G icon is deactivated, it is still not possible to delete the occupied row above the Android keyboard, this unfortunately causes the keyboard to take up more space on the screen.
For those who want an Android keyboard that takes up less space, the only solution at the moment is to use an alternative Android App as a keyboard.
